AI Generated Art - Dream by WOMBO

Recently, @kinab wrote a post about a new AI art generator called Dream by WOMBO, so I decided to check it out myself and give it a go for fun. I have to say, before talking about anything, I was completely speechless from the results.

On one side, AI generated art (or lyrics, characters, even full songs) relying on complex neural networks can mean a new universe of possibility in the realm of creation, ideas, and overall time-based efficiency. A program could be trained to generate a high definition result quite fast and in a huge amount of different styles. Applied to something such as game creation, this is a massive amount of work, time and money saved for creating very cool assets!

A person with the right inputs and a correct algorithm could pretty much generate a pretty decent, even good album of music, art collection, even poems. For tech lovers, that is indeed a massive step forward in both technology and art. But in a way, to teach a program to think outside of the box and generate new completely original design would be impossible, as it relies heavily on a massive data bank to operate and compare its results onto. One could argue that the results are so unique in the way they look like that they are indeed their own style, their own originality (I feel like AI generated artworks are easily identified as being so, at least I have not seen as many humans created artwork that resembled anything like that).

Here are a few different generations of the same text inputs I used on Dream, I find them absolutely fascinating, even though you can see the resemblance between all of them. The output generation really follows one direction, so they are quite easy to recognize. It would make for a great calendar or tarot deck generator though!

WOMBO is currently developing a "Mint as NFT" option on their platform for each piece of art created, which means they are basically starting their own AI generated art NFT market (even though there's already a ton of AI generated art on many NFT markets) and the future of art is looking more intricate and controversial that I thought, but I am indeed loving the direction it is taking!

I mean come on, look at that, it's absolutely gorgeous and epic, I wouldn't dream to render this kind of vibrance and colours in my artworks!

Thanks for reading, go and have some fun yourself on Dream by WOMBO!!

Never though about using AI to generate characters for a video-game.... Really interesting!!

Technically, you could generate any kind of data!
