You determine your worth when you work for yourself

The beauty of working for yourself is that you get to control things your own way without having to be tossed around. I remember my first job as an employee. I had an alarm that woke me up and I had to get to work on or before 8am. I was living in Lagos state,Nigeria then. And if you are a lagosian, you will understand that living in Ikeja and working at Elegushi is like travelling from one state to another. I woke up by 3am everyday just to leave the house by 5am and a good number of times, I didn't get to work in time. And I never came home before 9pm. 9:30 pm was my earliest then. I was stressed mentally and emotionally but then, I was working for someone and needed to put food on my table.

Fast forward to today, things are different now and I work with my time. No pressure, no hassle, just me and myself putting things together always. People who work for others, limit themselves a lot and are confined to a particular kind of routine while people who work for themselves explore as much as they can. When you work for someone else, they determine everything movement you make and even determine your worth because it is what they say that you do. It is what they consider as favourable that you get for yourself.

Meanwhile when you work for yourself, you determine what you worth by yourself. You tell people how much your business cost. So many people are beginning to understand this logic that is why they have settled to work for themselves no matter how little their business brings. I think working for yourself brings peace of mind more than working for someone else. Reason is because you set the rules, adjust where necessary and you experience whatever that comes first hand. Other may not really get the picture because they do not own the business. So you feel the pain if there is any more than anyone else.

I prefer to work for myself always than letting someone determine my value and worth.
