[ENG/ESP] Customizing a Sonic water bottle / Personalizando un envase para agua de Sonic

As I had already mentioned in a previous post I have an enterprise of personalized products some with the sublimation technique that I started almost 4 years ago, I manage it through social networks under the name of Uma Taller Creativo. This time a customer asked me for a fully customized 700ml bottle for drinks, in my country and in other places it is known as Tomatodos or Thermos which is ideal for hot or cold drinks and can be used by both children and adults.

When my client requested the "Sonic" character I was very excited because he is one of my favorite video game and cartoon characters from the 90s. It has been 32 years since Sega developed the first Sonic game, it was released in 1991 to compete with Nintendo and since then this character is the most representative of the famous Japanese corporation.

Although the customization can be easy apparently but in the process many mistakes are made, such as choosing the color profile, temperature and pressure for each product, I am still learning new techniques such as the design in Photoshop, the font to match the theme, etc.. Above all, I want my business to keep growing little by little, below I will leave you the link. Both the client and I were satisfied with the final result.

Como ya les había comentado en un post anterior tengo un emprendimiento de productos personalizados algunos con la técnica de sublimación que inicie hace ya casi 4 años atrás, lo manejo a través de las redes sociales con el nombre de Uma Taller Creativo. En esta oportunidad un cliente me solicito una botella para las bebidas totalmente personalizada de 700ml, en mi país y en otros lugares lo conocen como Tomatodos o Thermos que es ideal para las bebidas frías o calientes y lo pueden usar tanto niños como adultos.

Cuando mi cliente solicitó el personaje de "Sonic" estuve muy emocionado pues es uno de mis personajes de videojuegos y dibujos animados favoritos de los años 90s. Han pasado 32 años desde que Sega desarrollo el primer juego de Sonic, este fue lanzado en 1991 para competir con Nintendo y desde entonces este personaje es el más representativo de la famosa corporación Japonesa.

Si bien el tema del personalizado puede ser fácil aparentemente pero en el proceso se comenten muchos errores, como elegir el perfil de color, la temperatura y presión para de cada producto, aun sigo aprendiendo nuevas técnicas como el armado del diseño en Photoshop, el tipo de letra que combine con la temática, etc. Sobre todo que mi emprendimiento siga creciendo poco a poco, líneas abajo les dejare el link. Tanto el cliente como yo quedamos satisfechos con el resultado final.

Aquí les dejo el proceso.

Here we have the paper printed in mirror mode with the size for the product, it is very important that the design must be printed with inks on sublimation paper.

Aquí tenemos el papel impreso en modo espejo con la medida para el producto, es muy importante que el diseño debe estar impreso con tintas sobre papel de sublimación.

Place the paper around the container in such a way that it wraps around and secure with thermal tape. Keep in mind that the product must also be suitable for sublimation.

Colocamos el papel al rededor del envase de manera que se envuelva todo y aseguramos con cinta térmica. Tener en cuenta que el producto también debe ser apto para sublimar.

Here the product is placed to regulate the pressure, the machine must be previously configured with a temperature of 180°C or 360°F with 180 seconds.

Aquí se va colocando el producto para regular la presión, la maquina previamente ya debe estar configurada con la temperatura de 180°C o 360°F con 180 segundos.

The container is placed on the resistance close to reach the set temperature. Keep in mind that the lid is removed and if the product is larger than the resistance we must move it a little again to cover the parts that the resistance does not reach.

Se coloca el envase en la resistencia cerca de llegar a la temperatura configurada, Tener en cuenta que se retira la tapa y si el producto es más grande que la resistencia debemos mover un poco nuevamente para que cubra las partes que no alcanza la resistencia.

We lower the handle of the machine and let the time go down to zero.

Se baja la manija de la maquina y dejamos que el tiempo descienda hasta cero.

With the help of a dry cloth, carefully take the hot product and turn it over so that it passes through the parts that the heating element does not cover and repeat the process again.

Con la ayuda de paño seco se toma con mucho cuidado el producto que está caliente para darle la vuelta para que pase por las partes que la resistencia no llega a cubrir y se repite nuevamente el proceso.

After a few minutes, when the product is a little cooler, carefully remove the thermal tape and then the paper.

Después de unos minutos cuando el producto ya este un poco más frío se va retirando con cuidado la cinta térmica y luego el papel.

And finally we have the Personalized Tomatodo in different positions so that the whole design can be appreciated.

Y finalmente tenemos el Tomatodo Personalizado en diferentes posiciones para que se aprecie todo el diseño.
