TELEPHONE CARD COLLECTION 3: “PEN AND INK SERIES” (EN/PT)

This collection highlights some tourist attractions of the “marvelous city,” Rio de Janeiro, painted by the sculptor, draftsman, and painter JOÃO PARENTE, known as the “Warrior of the Arts,” a Brazilian personality who has always shown notoriety in this field, given his versatility.
Composed of 6 telephone cards and created in the year 2000, each unit has a limited edition of 300,000 cards. Its market value is between R$ 50.00 and R$ 200.00 depending on its state of conservation.
Let's get to know each of the 6 items of his work.
“CHURCH OF OUR LADY OF GLORY OF OUTEIRO”
It was the first Baroque-style church built in Rio de Janeiro, a historical cultural heritage site. It is considered a symbol of the colonial period of Brazil; members of the imperial family were baptized in its facilities.
“CHRIST THE REDEEMER”
It is a statue located atop Corcovado Mountain, a historical monument honoring Jesus Christ, with open arms to all. As the iconic landmark of Rio de Janeiro, people can enjoy panoramic views of the entire city while admiring its beauty and magnitude.
“LAPA ARCHES”
Initially created in the 18th century to transport water to the region, it currently serves as a viaduct for the tram.
“FLAMENGO BEACH PANORAMA”
A famous beach in Rio de Janeiro, it boasts a vast shoreline with views of Sugarloaf Mountain and Corcovado, a popular destination for tourists from all over the world. It has calm waters, perfect for swimming with family.
“CATETE PALACE”
It is a museum with free admission for the public. In the past, it was the home of the Baron of Nova Friburgo and the presidential headquarters of the Republic; this location was the stage for numerous historical events in Brazilian society.
"RIO DE JANEIRO MUNICIPAL THEATRE"
I got this last card by luck; I found it in a used bookstore, it was very cheap, a lucky day. This theatre was inspired by the Paris Opera, but its construction resulted from the union of two architectural projects. It's a gigantic building, something that doesn't go unnoticed by visitors. It's the main performance venue in Brazil.

“IGREJA DE NOSSA SENHORA DA GLÓRIA DO OUTEIRO”
Foi a primeira igreja em estilo barroco construída no Rio de Janeiro, um patrimônio histórico e cultural. É considerada um símbolo do período colonial do Brasil; Membros da família imperial foram batizados em suas instalações.
“CRISTO REDENTOR”
É uma estátua localizada no topo do Morro do Corcovado, um monumento histórico em homenagem a Jesus Cristo, de braços abertos. Como um dos marcos mais icônicos do Rio de Janeiro, oferece vistas panorâmicas de toda a cidade, permitindo admirar sua beleza e imponência.
“ARCOS DA LAPA”
Inicialmente construídos no século XVIII para transportar água para a região, atualmente servem como viaduto para o bonde.
“PRAIA DO FLAMENGO”
Uma praia famosa no Rio de Janeiro, possui uma extensa faixa litorânea com vista para o Pão de Açúcar e o Corcovado, sendo um destino popular para turistas do mundo todo. Suas águas calmas são perfeitas para nadar em família.
“PALÁCIO DO CATETE”
É um museu com entrada gratuita. No passado, foi a residência do Barão de Nova Friburgo e a sede do governo da República; este local foi palco de inúmeros eventos históricos da sociedade brasileira.
"TEATRO MUNICIPAL DO RIO DE JANEIRO"
Consegui este último cartão por sorte; encontrei-o em um sebo, estava muito barato, um dia de sorte. Este teatro foi inspirado na Ópera de Paris, mas sua construção resultou da união de dois projetos arquitetônicos. É um edifício gigantesco, algo que não passa despercebido pelos visitantes. É o principal espaço para espetáculos do Brasil.

They are beautiful! I liked these ones best because I have always loved the black and white theme, it creates a feeling of antiquity and nostalgia, especially with those iconic drawings. They are very beautiful! 😍
The beauty of Brazilian phone cards lies in their diversity; I'm trying to post a little bit of everything in my weekly posts. I have my special collections, kept under lock and key; I probably won't post those, for fear of damaging them just by looking at them. They're worth a small fortune because they're in perfect condition.
