Greetings to all Art lovers!

One more week in which I participate in the Art Contest promoted by the Splinterland community in its edition# 292. This time I chose to represent the Narwhal Sea Monster Sniper.

Una semana más en la que participo en el Concurso de Arte promovido por la comunidad de Splinterland en su edición #292. En esta ocasión elegí representar al Monstruo Marino Narval Francotirador.

SNIPING NARWHAL

The Narwhal is known as the Unicorn of the Seas, due to the horn on their head that reminds us of the horn of the legendary unicorn. Although this horn is actually a large ivory tusk, impressive!

Unfortunately these are animals that are endangered due to hunting and climate change. It would be a real tragedy to lose them.

For this Narwhal Fan Art I used the Photoshop tool. I also wanted to use Adobe Illustrator to make the drawing, but my current operating system does not support the required version. So, while I modernize I decided to do the drawing by hand, and I took paper and pencil and for it.

El Narval es conocido como el Unicornio de los mares, debido al cuerno que tienen en su cabeza que recuerda el cuerno del legendario unicornio. Aunque este cuerno es en realidad un colmillo de marfil de gran tamaño. ¡Impresionante!

Lamentablemente son animales que se encuentran en peligro de extinción debido a la caza y al cambio climático. Sería una verdadera tragedia perderlos.

Para este Fan Art del Narval utilicé la herramienta de Photoshop. Quise además usar el Adobe Illustrator para realizar el dibujo, pero mi sistema operativo actual no es compatible con la versión requerida. Así que, mientras me modernizo decidí hacer el dibujo a mano, y tomé papel y lápiz y para ello.

Creation Process/ Proceso de Creación

I began the process by drawing the figure of the Narwhal al on a letter-size sheet of paper (21.6 x 27.9 cm) with a black pencil.

Comencé el proceso dibujando la figura del Narval al en una hoja de papel tamaño carta (21.6 x 27.9 cm) con un lápiz de color negro.

Then I took a digital image and copied it to my computer, to work on it in Photoshop. I'm still a novice in the use of this program, I'm just starting and taking my first steps, and I think it's a great tool.

Already in Photoshop, I made a selection of the Narwhal, copied it in a new layer, colored it with blue tones, and made some retouches with the brush. Then I added two layers, a gradient adjustment layer in a blue tone of my preference and another layer to add an image with a textured background that resembled the sea. To both of them I applied the Multiply blend mode, with a small decrease in opacity.

Después le tomé una imagen digital y la copié hacia mi computadora, para trabajarla en Photoshop. Aun soy novata en el uso de este programa, estoy comenzando y dando mis primeros pasos, y me perece una herramienta genial.

Ya en Photoshop, realicé una selección del Narval la copie en una capa nueva, la coloree con tonos azules, y le hice algunos retoques con el pincel. Después añadí dos capas, una de ajuste de degradado en un tono azul de mi preferencia y otra capa para agregar una imagen con un fondo con textura que asemejara el mar. A ambas les aplique el modo de fusión Multiplicar, con una pequeña disminución en la opacidad.

On the narwhal layer, I used two different brushes, one to add bubbles and the other to simulate splashes on the tusk of the cetacean.

Sobre la capa del narval, empleé dos pinceles distintos, uno para añadir burbujas y otro para simular salpicaduras en el colmillo del cetáceo.

At the end I made contrast, brightness and saturation adjustments to obtain the desired effect. And here is the final result.

Al final realicé ajustes de contraste, brillo y saturación para obtener el efecto deseado. Y aquí les presento el resultado final.
