Splinterlands Social Media Challenge! | Queen Mycelia

Hello, Legendaries! 💖

I saw some of the artists that I already know of seem to have fun sharing their Splinterlands art on social media platforms, so I hopped in too! This is my first time joining the social media challenge~! 🥰

For this challenge, I chose Queen Mycelia as my reference.

It has been a while since I drew Splinterlands characters in my chibi style. Honestly, I kind of miss it. The first time I joined in the art contest was in chibi style. So, let's begin! 😊

Sketch and Lineart

When I am using the chibi style, I already have a template to begin with. I like to use a single template for all of my chibi art. In fact, I use this for my NFT art collection. Using the mirror brush, I first drew the hair, the flower at the back, the tentacles, and the details on the buddy. I used a mirror brush for perfect symmetry. And then, I used a pencil for the web-like details.

For lineart, I used a thicker brush. Using again the mirror brush, I followed my sketching. I only drew the parts wherein it is symmetrical. I just skipped the non-symmetrical details for now.

Details and shading

Those tentacles make me shiver. 🥲 It is like worms in the mouth. For the tentacles, I used an edge pen. I did a total of three layers, and then merge them so that it does not like overlapping when drawn in a single layer. I then did the shading on the hair, flower, and skin.

I did more shading on the tentacles and face. I airbrushed some red color on the arms. I chose a green background this time. I just color-picked it on the original character. I then added some glow on the eyes and on the body.

Final Art

For the final art, I add another layer on top creating a gradient of black and green. I then used a textured brush to paint the red lines in the background. I airbrushed the color green on the lower part too. The cherry on top would probably be the glow in the eyes! 💖
