How to Start Playing and Earning in dCrops BETA! Plus a Whole Lot of New Features (August 2022)

What is dCrops

One day I was looking for a semi-passive play-to-earn game, those that do not need a lot of time to play. Then one of my friends told me about dCrops, and mentioned that this is fairly new and will soon enter its BETA, complete with new set of features.

He said it's about farming, like, planting seeds, harvesting the crops, and selling them. There are 4 seasons in-game: spring, summer, fall, and winter. And there are specific crops that grow according to season.

Then when the new Beta packs are launched, the game will add a bunch of new features such as cooking recipes, construction, etc.

And it has the same feature as Splinterlands that we were playing before - the collection power or Holding Rewards. So the more you hold in-game assets, the more hive tokens you'll get.

I got curious, so I went to the website and read everything. In a matter of hours, I'm sold!

I knew my way around play-to-earn games, so I checked my funds and the current exchange rates. Hive token has been relatively low recently, it's the perfect time to get into the game!

How I Entered the Game

Thanks to that friend of mine, I still got 24 hours before the Beta sale pack is finished. I bought a few packs in-game via the "Shop" tab.

We cannot open the packs yet until the pre-sale has ended (by the time of writing, the pre-sale is finished. Regular Beta Pack sales are still ongoing, and 265047 packs are still available). So I just went back to reading FAQs, the Wiki, and some guides.

Finally, Pack Opening!

The time has come and I opened 4 out of my 5 Beta packs. I just feel like saving one pack for later, lol.

When you click that, another screen will open. Here you can adjust how many packs you want to open.

Ever since I started playing blockchain games, I never really had that truck-load of luck. So here's what I got.

Not bad, I got an "Oil Press" blueprint! And 4 rare cards. Anyway, I wanted to start planting.

Oh and before you can actually start with anything, you need a Land card. So I bought one with two plots for starters.

The Real Game

Step 1: Check the current season

It's currently Spring season and will change to Summer after 11 days. One season is equal to 15 days (that's real time days).

Step 2: Check your land and seeds

The land you bought should have nothing planted on it, so you can immediately start planting.

Here are the seeds you can plant in Spring. The Wiki can explain all the things you can see in the cards.

And make sure your Seed Cards are not in cooldown. OMG, I missed this part when I did my research. It turns out, after a Crop is Harvested, the Seed card you used will begin a 15-day cooldown. Yep, it's written in the homepage, down to the "Seeds" section.

Step 3: Start planting!

I have a Dill, Rosemary and French Bean seed cards from the Beta packs I opened. So it's time to use them.

I only have a "Fertile Land" card so I can only plant two seeds at a time.

I planted French Bean and Rosemary.

You can click them so you can see the stats and how much time before they can be harvested.

Now you'll just have to wait for harvest. Yes no need to water them, lol.

Harvest Time!

I actually planted a Dill seed earlier.

Dill is an amazing crop, since it can be immediately harvested after a day you planted its seed!

From what you can see in the card, you will harvest 2 pieces of its crops. Multiplied by 5 and you'll get 10 shares if you sell them.

And if you're lucky, if your land card is Rare and up, there's a chance to get additional crops for each time you harvest.

So here's what I got in the actual numbers.

I haven't sold them yet. I will sell them before the season ends. Maybe I will use my earnings to buy new Seed cards for the next season.

Trees

Very soon we can start planting trees using Tree Seeds and Trinity Lands!

Cooking

Soon we'll be able to cook recipes using our harvested crops!

Recipes will be NFTs that you need to burn in order for you to learn how to cook them. Cooked items will be sold for a far higher value of share points and will be crucial in the orders and NPC update. Burning one copy of a recipe will allow you to start cooking it.

The more you cook a specific recipe, your proficiency in that recipe will increase which will give you certain bonuses. The proficiency will have a level cap which can be increased by burning more copies of the same recipe NFT.

Crafting

Then we can also produce other crop products by crafting!

There are a total of ~51 total craftable items that have been initially added to the game with the BETA edition. The distinction between cooking and crafting is that you can directly craft these items without needing to learn them as long as you have the necessary equipment and ingredients in your inventory.

So yes, I'm planning to achieve a 100k crop power, accumulated over time.
It's a long journey ahead, and I believe it's doable.
Once I achieved that, well I guess there's nowhere to go but forward! =)
