Rising Star Cards Public Spreadsheet: sort, filter, get a csv

(Edited)

Hey folks. I wanted an easier way to explore the full library of Rising Star cards.

So I made a publicly viewable Airtable base (desktop recommneded)!

Access it here

In the game, you only really get one "view," which is an alphabetical, unsearchable, graphical list of the cards—grouped by type. This works for most cases, but those with analytical aspirations or nuanced statistical questions do not have a simple path. Until now!

🧐 How to use it

Airtable, if you're not familiar, is like Google Sheets with all sorts of bells 'n' whistles 'n' colours. If you don't want all this UX/UI stuff in the way of that sweet, sweet data, you can grab a CSV version for yourself:

csv_dl.png

▶️ Otherwise, there are all sorts of fun things you can do. Click the little dropdown arrow in column header to get a menu of ways to manipulate the data, or choose one of the top menu items to build more complex combos of filters, groups, or sorts.

Data currently available

Before I get into some use cases, here's the data I've inputted so far, for every card:

  • 🔢 Game stats. Duh! Fans, Skill, Luck... along with the stats sum and the Fan:Skill ratio.
  • 🏷️ Card name and number. Would be bad if I left this out!
  • Rarity. The word printed at the very bottom of each card.
  • Type. The category that the game sorts the cards into. E.g. People, Instruments, Crafted.
  • 🖨️ Max print. The total number of cards that can current exist of this kind.
  • 🤔 Strategy. Whether the card has more fans than skill, vice versa, or if it's balanced. Slightly redundant re: Fan:Skill ratio, but it looks prettier and allows for easier grouping!
  • 🎓 Luck Class. Which luck aspect, if any, the card impacts. This information appears in the game's FAQ too, but it's a static list.

If time and ambition allow, I'll aim to add more to this over time. I do anticipate that others (including Rising Star itself) may one day develop something that makes this whole thing redundant, so assume that this is as in depth as it will get!

~ ❕ ~
I will keep the list updated when new cards come out, so long as a better tool hasn't been published 🙂

Example sorts, groupings, and filters

Here are some ideas on what you can do.

The configuration below groups cards first by "Strategy," looks only at Rares and Epics in the People category, and then sorts by the Skill Stat.

In the next example, we've grouped by Luck Class, focused on Guitar Lessons, then sorted by Luck. This reveals the opportunity in the Crafted Guitars—at a glance you can that there are several craftables that are way better than Epics!

db_tool_example_2.png

I've created a few 🔒 locked views that act as demos of other things you could want to look at, using combos of groupings, filters, and sorts. When you visit the Airtable, you'll see these uneditable configurations on the lefthand menu:

Rarity-Type. Demonstrates a double grouping. First it's broken into Rarity, then Type. At a glance, you see that there are currently 75 Common People cards and 71 Common Instruments, but only 4 Common Vehicles.

db_tool_example_3.png

The Specific Sort/Filter/Group Example is just that—a somewhat arbitrary example of all three tools in action.

Lessons groups by Luck Class, excludes Unlisted and Drunks, and sorts by Luck.

There are tons of ways to play with this data, so get in there and explore for yourself!

Here's the link again

I'll likely be using this to help me build a ton of card pages in the new Rising Star Wiki, which you can visit here (use an adblocker or Brave browser!!), or read more about here.

Still haven't gotten into Rising Star yet? Better get on the train soon—the user count just passed 5,000 recently and seems to be accelerating. Get in before it really blows up!

Questions about the Airtable?

Ask away in the comments, or come find me in the Rising Star or Hive Pizza Discord (@jfuji) 😊

Thanks for reading! All images/gifs are screengrabs from the Airtable base.

The people doing V2K with remote neural monitoring want me to believe this lady @battleaxe is an operator. She is involved deeply with her group and @fyrstikken . Her discord is Battleaxe#1003. I cant prove she is the one directly doing the V2K and RNM. Doing it requires more than one person at the least. It cant be done alone. She cant prove she is not one of the ones doing it. I was drugged in my home covertly, it ended badly. They have tried to kill me and are still trying to kill me. I bet nobody does anything at all. Ask @battleaxe to prove it. I bet she wont. They want me to believe the V2K and RNM in me is being broadcast from her location. And what the fuck is "HOMELAND SECURITY" doing about this shit? I think stumbling over their own dicks maybe? Just like they did and are doing with the Havana Syndrome https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism

Ahh tasty data! Thank you so much for the ping over Discord too! I suppose you extracted the info automatically? I wanted to do it myself - just didn't know how 😅

You're welcome!

I suppose you extracted the info automatically?

Nope! Manually keyed in most of it (so uh, there may be errors). Used some Excel-fu to make the crafted cards less arduous. Didn't take too much time! I also wanted to figure out how to do it programmatically... but my technical skillz aren't that good.
