A legal duel only required two parties from different families with seedblessed weapons. A good duel featured an even skill match, or a legitimate dispute. It was even better if the participants came from within the same triad or if the dispute was between families from triads with very different prestige. It was all about the drama.

I liked the story, the truth is that it has been interesting and the contests seem like a great success to promote it. A story by chapters hooks a lot, it has been like watching a series. Waiting to see what happens next.

I liked the story, the contests and the serialized approach, both for the parts of the novel and the giveaways.

Having something to read every few days helped keeping the attention high, while increasing the curiosity towards the future events of the story.

My favorite line is

Frix saw. It was a weird silver contraption, maybe about as wide as a small meeting tent and half his own height. Its overall shape reminded him of a skipping stone: fat and squat. Except it was too ovaloid to be a perfect stone, plus, if it was anything like the ones he remembered from the bridge, they grew spiky legs when they moved.
