Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! Fire & Regret is best without ranged monsters
Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Fire & Regret rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.
Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Close Range, Fire & Regret, and Explosive Weaponry. This means that all monsters gain the close range, return fire, and blast ability. There is also 19 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, water, or life splinter.
The summoner I chose to use this time is Kelya Frendul. It increases my speed and armor by 1.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Kelya Frendul | 4 | Summoner | +1 speed and armor |
Diemonshark | 8 | 1st | Trample and Enrage |
Tide Biter | 3 | 2nd | Reach and Reflection Shield |
Creeping Ooze | 1 | 3rd | Slow |
Merdaali Guardian | 3 | 4th | Tank heal |
Torrent Fiend | 0 | 5th | Filler |
Furious Chicken | 0 | 6th | Filler |
I plan to use Diemonshark as my tank with enrage and trample. Then I have Tide Biter in 2nd spot with reach and reflection shield to deal with the blast damage. Next, I have Ooze with slow and Merdaali with tank heal to keep my tank alive. My last two monsters are filler monsters to tank any hits from any sneak monsters. I chose not to use any ranged monsters due to the ruleset.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. So long as I don't miss too many attacks, I should be able to outlast my opponent because it will take my opponent quite a few turns to kill off my tank due to the tank heal. The only issue is that martyr monster because it could drastically increase my opponent's damage and that can easily take out my Diemonshark if I am unlucky.
Round 2
I took out the first monster and my Diemonshark will maintain its enraged state. So I should be able to kill off my Djinn Oshannus if I don't miss any of my attacks.
Round 4
I was able to take out two more monsters but I have this match won now. I can heal up any damage taken from my opponent.
As I expected, I won the match later that round because I didn't miss any of my attacks.
Conclusion
The battle went exactly as I expected. Using Tide Biter lowered the damage that I would take and the tank heal was able to heal up my Diemonshark without any issue. The enraged Diemonshark was able to deal massive damage against Djinn Oshannus and once that was taken out, the match was my win. I am glad that the martyr monster didn't activate on Djinn Oshannus either. Otherwise, I might have been in danger due to all the magic damage that my opponent had. Overall, I won without too many issues and I didn't miss many attacks in this fight.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.

Basically, you had better cards than the opponent and it was a better tactics overall, the opponents Djinn Oshannus couldn't really do Much
Yea. It worked out in the end for me. There was still a chance I could lose but I didn't miss my attacks.
You gave it good tactics but did you ever have the same card as your partner?
Also, I’m glad about your win
If we have the same cards at the same level, then it becomes a draw. Otherwise it plays out accordingly and whatever happens in the fight is the result.
