Splinterlands: Chaos Rear Guard is a useful low mana card
Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a neutral card and dragon card that I have been using in the Rebellion deck.
Featured Cards
Chaos Rear guard is a Rebellion water splinter that costs 4 mana. It only has the ability shield from the very first level. It doesn't have very high stats because it has a low mana cost, but it does do it's job of reducing damage from the ranged and melee attacks.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Equalizer. This means that all monsters start off with the same health. There are 24 mana available and I am left with the choice of water or dragon splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Kelya Frendul | 4 | Summoner | +1 armor and speed |
Chaos Rear Guard | 4 | 1st | Shield |
Tide Biter | 3 | 2nd | Reach and Camouflage Shield |
Torrent Fiend | 0 | 3rd | Filler |
Musa Saline | 3 | 4th | Shatter and Scavenger |
Merdaali Guardian | 3 | 5th | Tank Heal |
Swamp Spitter | 7 | 6th | Repair |
Total Mana: | 24 |
I used Kelya Frendul as my summoner for the +1 speed and armor. This will let my monsters attack first and reduce my damage taken. My lineup starts off Chaos Rear Guard with it's shield ability. Then I have a reach monster and a filler monster after. I have Musa there for the shatter ability and since it moves first, it helps out even more. Then I have two support ability monsters with tank heal and repair. This will keep Chaos Rear Guard alive so the rest of my team can still attack.
Round 1
It looks like my opponent is focused more on dealing damage on my Chaos Rear Guard. I do have shield, repair and tank heal so I should be able to last quite a while. So it will depend on whether or not I can kill my opponent fast enough or not. If I do, then I win just with those supportive ability.
Round 4
I skipped over to Round 4 because not much happened as I healed up most of the damage taken and I was killing off my enemies tank. Now that I took out the thorns tank, I should be fine to heal up all the damage that I get each round using repair and tank heal. So this match is my win. Even in the worst case, my Musa can kill off the backfire monster and win the match.
A few rounds later, I was able to win like I expected. There was no chance for my opponent to win after I took out the thorns monsters on my opponents side.
Conclusion
The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. I was able to reduce most of the damage and also heal up most of the damage that I received. By using Musa and shatter, I was able to break through the armor and kill off my opponents faster as well. With all of this, I was able to finish off my opponent as my opponent struggled to kill off my Chaos Rear Guard. I also had 6 monsters to take advantage of the ruleset and my opponent did the same.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Some of those rebellion cards are amazing if you ask me. I think it was an evenly matched game, except you had a card with a healing ability at the front and this really made a difference.
Yea. Rebellion has increased the combinations we can do. Combining the abilities and synergizing the rest of the team is a good way to make the most of your cards
