Splinterlands: Buying summoners before Chaos Legion sells out

Each fight in Splinterlands fight requires is a summoner and that summoner will decide what level cards you can play. Just like my last post on the subject, I think it's very important to focus on improving them and I don't know when untamed will be removed from the modern ruleset. So I decided to buy enough cards to level up some of my chaos legion summoners to boost my own prowess in the modern ranked battles. I went for the common version so they won't be as helpful towards brawls though because I play gold ranked brawls.

Summoners

If your summoner level is not high enough, your monster levels are also capped. It can also be capped based on the league you are fighting in so make sure to get the appropriate summoner for your own preference. It won't matter too much if your other cards are under-leveled because having a high-level summoner doesn't mean that your other cards will automatically go up in level. Both are important to balance as you decide where you want to fight in and most of the time, higher leveled cards will give you better stats or abilities and that will help you more than it will hurt you.

My purchase

I bought 12 Keyla Frendul (the card shown in the previous section) because I have lost way too many times against this card than I would like to admit. It's an amazing summoner with +1 speed and +1 shield. I just think Bortus isn't good enough in most situations and it tends to be more situational compared to Keyla. The speed will always be useful and the +1 armor can easily take an extra hit for your monsters. It's been on my list to buy for a long time and I bought enough to make my card level 4. As I play in Silver league for most of the season, I think it's well worth it and even at level 4, it can be competitive enough to help in Gold ranks. I won't suffer much in regards to this.

The next summoner I bought was General Sloan. While it isn't always the best, I think there are enough archers to make it a compelling card to get. I bought 10 cards to make sure that I have enough for level 4 when I get around to removing the level 1 card from the rental bot later. This is a situational card but I still think it's better to have this available rather than not.

Conclusion

With Chaos Legion about to sell out, I decided to buy some summoners and upgrade my deck. With this, I will have level 4 summoners for all except fire and I plan on getting that one eventually. This will help me in ranked battles and it will become more important when untamed is eventually removed from modern. Most of the income that I spent on this was earned through rentals even if it has taken a large hit. I will still rent out my other cards that are sitting around and eventually use that to buy more cards but I don't know what my plan is with the new reward structure in place.
