Brawl Report #54 - A few wins but still losing most of my matches

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. Rebellion has also changed the battles and I just keep losing my fights. I didn't lose all my fights but I still lost more than I won.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern brawl and got 2 losses. My rewards for the brawl were 3,611 merits and 30.537 SPS in the 3 star category. My guild ranked 3rd place out of the 10 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. It wasn't a complete loss this time around but I did get some wins so it was a good result for me.

Brawl fights

There were 2 that I lost. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.

You can find the first match here. I won this match but I wasn't expecting to win this match because my opponent's magic monsters. Fortunately, I was able to take them out early and I didn't miss any attacks. So I was able to win the match because my monsters focused down my opponent and I focused on speed.

You can find the second match here. I lost this match and there wasn't much I could do against all the opportunity and sneak monsters. My setup was more focused on keeping my tank alive.

You can find the third match here. I lost this match and my lineup just wasn't strong enough. The thorns definitely hurt and I couldn't kill off my opponent fast enough.

You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match and I tried out one of the duo element summoners. It didn't work out as intended and my opponent had his summoner reduce my magic attack. It reduced my damage and it let my opponent win quite easily.

You can find the fifth match here. I won this match and I was able to win with the speed advantage. I was a bit worried because of the magic monsters but that magic reflect helped. It damaged off the mages after my shield tank died. It lasted long enough for me to win.

You can find the sixth match here. I lost this match and that bloodlust monster definitely hurt. The double opportunity worked out better for the enemy because it repaired the armor enough for my opportunity monster to fail.

Conclusion

I think doing 6 fights for 3,611 merits and 30.537 SPS is a pretty good reward for the effort. I didn't lose all of my fights but I will take it after my past few brawls. My guild also pulled through and we got to 3rd place. I was a bit worried reading the chat, but it worked out in the end. Brawls are a great way of earning SPS and merit for the number of battles you participate in. So I think it is worthwhile for people to participate in these brawls. My current brawls are in the three star category. I hope I can win at least half of my matches but that might be tough in the current Rebellion structure.
