Hive Talks : NFTs On Hive | Definitely Something To Learn

avatar

Hell yeah!

This is my second time attending the virtual Hive Talks of the @hiveph. The first one was last October 28 where it talked about Blockchain and Cryptocurrency, Basics of Crypto Trading, and NFTs. So basically the Hive talks are more on the things beyond content creation in Hive, which is really a plus factor for everyone here in the platform, especially for those who are really into earning more cryptocurrencies other than blogging.

The second one just happened earlier tonight. The talk focused on NFTs and nothing more. So it is way more specific which made it easier for me to digest. Well, all thanks to the hiveph team for this great initiative. You guys are great!

* * *

It was just three days ago when I saw on my following feed the announcement post of @ybanezkim26 about the talk tonight. I got really interested as these days NFTs is kinda annoying me good on Facebook and other social media platforms, it's like telling me one serious thing, it is booming.

Moving backward, I first time heard the term NFT from the first Hive Talks where it was @anneporter who discussed the basics. The first time I've known it, I immediately ran to google and did further research about the thing - like almost all the why's and how's of NFTs. And so, I slowly had digested what really it is but was still not confident with those things around it I believe I had understood.

Well, I am not an artist myself. But I had close friends and acquaintances, and even students who really do good in art. So aside from my interest in owning an NFT art, one of the reasons why I'm learning things about it, I also wanted to share and relay the knowledge to my students who I've seen great potentials in arts. So that would mean, they could take advantage of their works to also earn.

Moving forward here's what happened earlier tonight.

NFTs On Hive

The talk took place on Hive PH Discord from 7:15 to 9:00 pm. So it ran for an hour and 45 minutes. It started with the self-introduction of some and the presentation of the program. Then it was followed by a game that was conducted by @tpkidkai. The game was more on the general knowledge and facts which I really sucked at. But what was good with this segment was that I was able to converse comfortably with the others on the voice chat, which for a long time I was not.

After the short game was the first topic where @hiddenblade openly shared her NFT experience. She showed her arts that she mints in opensea, and her earliest and rarest NFTs. And among the things that she talked about, it was the term "Rarest" that caught me. Good thing, @indayclara asked why rare. Though it was a kind of difficult for me to grasp the whole thing now, at least I got acquainted with new things, especially some of the terms used in the NFT market.

Here are just some of the screenshots from hiddenblade's live stream.

After that, @ybanezkim26 continued the topic as he shared about the NFTs on the Hive blockchain. He started his talk by sharing that as Non-fungible tokens, each has a somewhat like an ID number that makes each token very much unique. And as he continued, he talked about the NFT showroom where one could easily mint. He also showed us the NFT arts that he had just bought in the showroom. Now, that makes me think to start owning NFTs too. He also shared a bit about Punks on Hive, Hash kings, Splinterlands, and some others. He was just touching the surface of these things, to just let us know that these kinds of good things existed. I guess it's now time for me to explore these.

Kim concluded his talk with this notable piece of advice - "Do your own research before participating in the NFT projects." and "Always consider your risk appetite and invest what you can just afford to lose."

The whole thing was then followed with an open forum.

By the way, shout out to Kim for giving the early birds 1 Hive Backed Dollar each. I will still be early next time.

There is really so much more to Hive than just creating content. I haven't imagined I am now indulging myself in things like these. Mayhap, if it weren't because of trying Hive, I wouldn't have known NFTs. This is certainly beyond what I am here for. And I think it is much fitting to thank the brains behind the initiative, so for those who are working hard on this, thank you!

I am looking forward to more talks like this. Kudos hiveph team! 'Till next time!

The game was more on the general knowledge and facts which I really sucked at.

I also suck at general knowledge, oftentimes I am banking on my typing skills each time that we have such events at work so that I can search via google the soonest. Too bad Kim's well versed on such trivias.

Thank you for joining the NFT talks! We are glad that you enjoyed and learn some stuff here and looking forward for more engagements and support from you and the rest of the folks out there.
