Sarius - Splinterlands Art Contest Week

Welcome everyone, I hope you are feeling well. Today I want to share with you a digital drawing I created to participate in the Splinterlands weekly art contest. This is my first card of Gladius, a character from the Fire splinter called Sarius, which I have designed especially for this competition. Below, I present to you the story behind this card.

Bienvenidos a todos, espero que se encuentren bien. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un dibujo digital que he creado para participar en el concurso de arte semanal de Splinterlands. Se trata de mi primera carta de Gladius, un personaje del splinter de Fuego llamado Sarius, la cual he diseñado especialmente para esta competencia. A continuación, les presento la historia detrás de esta carta.

"The Burning Lands city of Azad is home to uncountable thousands of the toughest people in the world from dozens of different races. There are warriors, thieves, refugees and survivors from all over the Planet. Even in spite of the terrible overpopulation problems and resource crises of the Burning Lands, the city accepts almost everyone whose ship makes it to the port of Noxia. Brutality of Azad life usually takes care of the population problem within the city walls anyways. Whoever is not fit to survive in Azad simply dies and is forgotten. The largest and most intact race of people who have made a home in Azad are the Khmer.

The Khmer were once a warlike and conquering people on the other side of the world. Then in the span of a few days, everything was taken from them by the nameless threat from which everyone ran. Back home in the land of their sprawling empire, they were ruled by seven sisters, the Khmer princesses."

"La ciudad de Azad, en las Tierras Ardientes, alberga a miles de las personas más fuertes del mundo, pertenecientes a docenas de razas diferentes. Hay guerreros, ladrones, refugiados y supervivientes de todo el planeta. Incluso a pesar de los terribles problemas de superpoblación y la escasez de recursos de las Tierras Ardientes, la ciudad acepta a casi todos los barcos que llegan al puerto de Noxia. La brutalidad de la vida en Azad suele solucionar el problema de la población dentro de las murallas de la ciudad. Quien no es apto para sobrevivir en Azad simplemente muere y es olvidado. La raza más numerosa y más intacta que ha establecido su hogar en Azad son los jemeres.

Los jemeres fueron antaño un pueblo guerrero y conquistador al otro lado del mundo. En cuestión de días, la amenaza sin nombre de la que todos huyeron les arrebató todo. De vuelta a casa, en la tierra de su extenso imperio, fueron gobernados por siete hermanas, las princesas jemeres."

To create this drawing, I first looked for a reference that would allow me to faithfully represent the idea I had in mind about the protagonist of the post. After finding an image that met the essential characteristics I needed, I was slightly inspired by the story of the letter to give it a special touch. Finally, I managed to complete the work in about 8 hours.

Para crear este dibujo, primero busqué una referencia que me permitiera representar fielmente la idea que tenía en mente sobre el protagonista del post. Tras encontrar una imagen que reunía las características esenciales que necesitaba, me inspiré ligeramente en la historia de la carta para darle un toque especial. Finalmente, logré completar el trabajo en aproximadamente 8 horas.

Espero que disfruten las imágenes que muestran cómo evolucionó el personaje a lo largo del proceso creativo.

Process

During the sketching phase, I began by drawing several guide lines until I achieved a reasonable resemblance to the reference image I had found. I made multiple adjustments to the proportions of the face before moving on to the coloring stage.

Durante la fase de boceto, comencé trazando varias líneas guía hasta lograr un parecido razonable con la imagen de referencia que había encontrado. Realicé múltiples ajustes en las proporciones del rostro antes de avanzar a la etapa de coloración.
