Flying Squid - Splinterlands Art Contest Week
Welcome everyone, I hope you are well. Today I want to share with you a digital drawing a little bit common in comparison with the ones I have shared in the art contest of these weeks of Splinterlands, because it is the first monster that I try to draw because I have always shared portraits and parts of anatomy of human characters, this time I wanted to make a sea creature called Flying Squid of the Water Splinter. Below, I present you the story of this letter:
"The Chaos Legion captain stood at the helm of the ship, gazing out at the empty sea. The sky was an overcast gray, and a brisk breeze ruffled his hair. A large flock of seagulls skimmed the surface of the water, flying ever closer.
He squinted his eyes. The birds drew nearer. As they did, he saw they weren't gulls at all. They were white, yes, but instead of wings and feathers, they had smooth, sheeny skin and tentacles that waved through the air.
From high above in the ship's crow's nest came the cry of alarm. “Flying Squid, twelve o'clock!"
For the elaboration of this drawing, I started looking for a reference to help me in the elaboration so I started looking for squids to guide me in creating the protagonist of the post, slightly inspired by the story of the letter. I managed to complete the work in approximately 7 hours, what I liked most about this drawing were the colors that I applied to the character.
Process
In the sketching phase, I started by making several guide lines until I achieved a reasonable resemblance to the reference image I had found. Then I moved on to the coloring stage.
