Kelan Gaines is the newest and the final Rebellion card to be introduced tomorrow, March 18th in the Voucher Shop. It will replace Ulfga and soon, the next voucher cards would be from Conclave Arcana. So how useful and powerful Kelan could be? Let's find out in this post.

Card Stats

Let us first see the rookie card's stats. Kelan Gaines is a Rare Dual Element Card from Death and Dragon. Which means he can be used with Lorkus, Akane, Reklah, Cryptic, Zeddica and Nidhoggr summoners. He is an 8 Mana card with 3 Magic Attack, 6 Speed, and 9 Health. These stats are amazing specially the speed which is a massive 6. It outspeeds most cards except Haralan Huntress and Exploding Rats with the speed of 7 in Modern format. This speed will also be useful to dodge Magic attacks with the help of the Phase ability. It also has the Backfire ability that will make enemies who missed take some damage. It targets the nearest Ranged and Magic attackers with Snipe Ability. But what makes it powerful is the Double Strike ability. Kelan will target non-melee units twice.

Kelan Gaines has the Snipe ability in the first level. At Wood tier, it will be useful to 'target' annoying long range attacks. At Bronze tier, it has Phase which as said earlier will enable him to dodge magic attacks. At Silver it has Backfire and a speed of 5 which will be a menace against enemies with low speed and luck (Yeah, I see you RNG). At Gold tier, no additional abilities will be gained but at 3 Magic and 6 speed, it is overwhelmingly dodgy and powerful. Kelan will surely shine at Diamond and Champion tier with the addition of the last ability, Double Strike showering magic attacks at enemies.

Card Comparisons

Since we can't test Kelan Gaines yet, let us compare him with other cards that has similar abilities and stats. First off, Sorriel The Bale.

Sorriel The Bale

Sorriel The Bale has that Double Strike and 3 Magic Attack the same with Kelan Gaines. We know how devastating Sorriel is, but Kelan is cheaper in Mana and faster. Sorriel might be good at dodging Melee and Ranged attacks because of Blind but Kelan is made to intercept Magic attacks.

Djinn Oshannus

I know you know how annoying Djinn Oshannus can be. Specially at Wands Out modifier. Its speed and Phase makes it almost untouchable by Magic attacks. It would be good to know that Kelan is better because of its higher speed stat and Double Strike ability. This coming new Modern format, consider using Kelan in Wands Out as it will be more vicious than Oshannus.

Closing

We can therefore conclude that Kelan Gaines will be a powerhouse when it comes to the new Modern format. As the last Rebellion Voucher Card, this will be the forefront of all Magic cards and will surely devastate those who come at his way. Are you excited with the new card? Prepare your vouchers and buy it at maxed level.
