Dusting Off My Decks: My Return to Splinterlands!

So, lately things have been a lot less crazy. Work's not stressing me out as much, and I'm not stuck doing chores all the time. Basically, I've got more free time on my hands now. And you know what popped into my head? Splinterlands! It's been a while since I last played, like, a good while. But I remember having fun battling with those monster cards and trying to come up with good strategies. So, yeah, I'm thinking about jumping back in. Let's see how this goes!

So, yeah, I played a bit at the end of last season, and it kinda got me hooked again. But then I started looking into what's new, and this whole Modern format thing is kinda confusing me. Most of the cards I have are from Chaos Legion, and I guess that's going out of rotation? So now I'm scratching my head trying to figure out what to do. Should I even bother with Modern if a lot of my cards won't work? Is "Wild" a better option? Or is there some other "Survival" thing I heard about? Honestly, I've even thought about just selling a bunch of my old cards and trying to buy a new deck that's good for just one of these formats. It's all a bit much, and I could really use some advice from people who actually know what's going on.

Account Overview

Alright, so before I really dive back in, I figured I should take a look at what I'm working with. Last time I was playing, I managed to stack up a decent amount of stuff, or at least it felt like it back then. Right now, I'm sitting on around 8787.954 SPS that's staked, which is probably good, right? I also have about 5774.375 DEC just sitting there. And surprisingly, I've got 106.743 VOUCHERS – I don't even totally remember what these are for anymore! As for my actual cards, I've got a whole bunch, mostly from the Chaos Legion set. I'll need to really go through them and see what's still useful in the current game. It's like opening a time capsule!

My Focus

This "Glint" thing seems like the most immediate new goal for me. My plan is pretty straightforward: just play ranked battles and start accumulating it. Once I have enough, the big question is what to spend it on in the Reward Shop. They have different tiers of draws, and I'm wondering which ones give the best bang for my Glint. Are the pricier draws with better odds really worth it, or is it better to just go for the cheaper ones more often?

Since I'm also interested in getting more Gladius cards, I'll definitely be looking at using some Glint to buy Merits. But here's the real question I have for anyone reading this: What's the most valuable thing to spend Glint on right now? Should I be focusing on the card draws, or are Merits the better investment in the long run? Any advice on how to best use this new Glint currency would be greatly appreciated!

Now, as for the SPS I'll be earning from battles and staking rewards, my current plan is pretty simple: keep staking it. The price of SPS isn't exactly sky-high right now, and my thinking is that it might be worth holding onto and letting it accumulate through staking. A higher SPS stake should also boost my daily SPS earnings and potentially increase my Glint rewards too, right? So, for the time being, I'm planning to just keep stacking those SPS and hoping the price sees better days down the line. It feels like the most sensible approach for me right now.

Final Thoughts

Looking ahead, this whole Conclave thing and the big shift in the Modern meta has me scratching my head. With a lot of my go-to Chaos Legion cards potentially becoming less relevant, I'm really unsure what the best move is. Should I be looking to sell off some of my older cards now to try and build a new deck that will be competitive in the new Modern format? Or is it better to just hold onto what I have and try to adapt? Maybe diving into Wild is the answer? I'm really open to any and all suggestions on how to navigate this upcoming change. Despite all the uncertainty, I'm definitely excited to be back in the Splinterlands arena. I'm looking forward to learning the new strategies, building up my account again, and being part of this community. So, what do you think? What should my next steps be as a returning player facing this meta shift? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
