Splinterlands SocMed Challenge: Upgrading my Game in Modern with Foundation Cards

Greetings to all Splinterlands players and Midnight Letters community! Aside from the reward chests, the Frontier format is another path to earn cards. Further, it's only in the Frontier to earn archon cards. Upgrading archons brings a lot of benefits to our game play. We unlock the higher level of our units for example, a level two archon unlocks a common card up to level three, rare and epic to level two. We can have access to stronger cards against opponents with lower level archons. I upgraded my archons in the Foundation set and got access to stronger cards that I play in the Modern format.

Archons

I have three archons that are level two. Water, Fire and Life while Death and Earth are close levelling up.

1. Water is my strongest element. I have strong Rebellion cards and magic cards that includes Mystic Scaleweaver and Saltwater Mage. Both magic cards are from the Foundation set. I supplement these cards with Rebellion and Conclave Arcana cards like Shock Trooper and Quillstorm Mage.

2. Fire element is also competitive with cards like Drybone Megalodon and Chaos Evoker from the Rebellion set. Then I added Conclave Arcana cards like Portly Cannoneer and reward cards.

3. Life has cards like Janni Rebel, Skyspire Leopard and Aria Bandit from Rebellion set. I Conclave Arcana cards Thunderous Herald and reward cards from chests.

With my archons levelling up, I'm planning to level up units that I can buy from the market. It will upgrade my game and let me move up to higher leagues.

Games

Water

My Water element had the biggest gain. I have cards from Rebellion and Conclave Arcana set that have unlocked because of the upgrade in archon. The strongest is Surge Blade that had its attack increased to 3.

My opponent had only level one Foundation cards in Equalizer game. I had the advantage in having more and stronger cards.

Life

My Life cards have a mix of Rebellion, Conclave Arcana and Foundation sets. I like using melee cards with Life as they have a good team up with Janni Rebel.

Saltwraith Bulkhead a good tank with four melee attack, six shield, eight life and four speed.

Janni Rebel has Inspire that adds +1 attack to all melee cards.

Sherringham Logger is a level two melee card from Foundation set. It can sneak up in the opponent camp.

Vengeful Monk is also level two melee card. It has the Opportunity skill.

Pixie Knife Hurler is a ranged unit with two attacks.

Luceheim Demon is a level three Rebellion card with three attacks.

My opponent had all Foundation team that had two legendary cards from the set. My mixed team was still stronger even if there were no legendary cards.

Fire

My Fire team is composed of melee and magic cards. I have cards from Rebellion, Conclave Arcana and Foundation set.

Drybone Megalodon has three attack, three shields, six life and two speed. I can put another melee card beside it because it has Flank skill. Unfortunately, I misplaced the second card.

Portly Cannoneer is a range card that adds +1 attack to melee units. Unfortunately, I placed it in second position. It should be Great Bear in second.

Great Bear Druid is a legendary card with melee and magic attacks.

Vengeful Monk is a level two melee card with Opportunity skill.

Withered Old Sage is a Conclave Arcana reward card with two magic attacks.

Chaos Evoker is a level two Rebellion card with two magic attacks and Blast skill.

My opponent also had a mix cards from several sets. My team had a higher attack overall and prevailed in the game.

Conclusion

The Frontier format provides an avenue for players to level up their game. This is by having a chance to gather archon cards without spending too much. Foundation set archons can be bought at lower prices compared to other sets. They have a disadvantage of having higher mana but it will allow players to compete at higher levels for cheaper price.
