Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Foundation Cards are Hidden Gems!

Greetings to all Splinterlands players and Midnight Letters community! This is my entry to this week's Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge. The topic is about hidden gems. This would refer to cards that are underestimated but have potential. For this topic, I would choose the Foundation set archons.

Foundation Set Archons

The Foundation set archons are easy to underestimate. The are a six mana card and give only one benefit to the team. This is the reason why they are very cheap. A maximum level Water archon (lvl 4) can be bought for only $4.8. Summoners who have a level four archon can climb Gold League if his units are levelled up and magic units are easiest to play with. Playing with Foundation set archons is a cost effective way to compete in Splinterlands if your units have the level for the league. You will depend less on the archon benefits but on the individual units stats and skills.

Foundation Set Units
The Foundation Set units are also the cheapest in the market. The most expensive legendary card cost less than $2.

With the cheap price, players with limited budget can easily max out their cards and compete in Modern, allowing them to earn SPS and reward chests.

My Cards
My cards are made up of various sets. Most of my cards are from the Foundation set and I also have cards from Rebellion and Conclave Arcana. Some cards I bought from the market and I still buy to add more.

Foundation Set in Action
I use mostly Foundation Set cards in the Modern format. This way, I can play and earn SPS for less cost. I already made Silver III League and maybe I can make Silver II by the end of season. I can compete even against other sets with my team. Here are some of my games in Modern.

I was against an opponent with Nomos archon. It's one of the cheap archons but still more expensive than Foundation set archons. My cards were a mix from different sets but I had a level 2 archon that helped me win because some of my cards are at higher levels.
Coral Forged is level 2. It has a good attack and defense. I can put another tank behind it because it has a flank skill.
Commander Slade is a tank with stronger attack. I put him behind Coral Forged. They are my two tank combo in Water.
Mystic Scaleweaver is a legendary Foundation card. It cost only $1.60. It has two magic attacks and slows the opponent with its skill.
Saltwater Mage is an epic Foundation card. It's also cheap at only $0.26. It has two magic attacks.
Surgeblade is a common reward card. It's attack is high, three melee. It can charge the opponent with its skill.
Mar Toren Trader is a level three archer card. It has two attack.
My opponent's cards were great especially his tank combo but they were all level one. His tanks are the same as mine. He also had a two tank combo. His Infernal Firestorm has two magic attacks, five shield, nine life and three speed. He can also put another tank behind it because it has flank skill. His next tank is Molten Elemental with two attacks of melee and ranged. His next two cards both have opportunity skill with two melee attacks. His next card is Grove Doomblade. I hope I can also get this card from chests. She is strong having five melee attack. His last unit is Magma Forged, a one attack archer unit.
The game is funny because my opponent's archon completely countered mine who gives +1 magic attack while Nomos deducts magic attack by 2. But I also relied on my other cards that gave me the victory.

Conclusion
Foundation set cards look like they are not as strong as regular cards. This caused them to be underestimated and their price cheaper than other cards. I consider them a hidden gem and provide players with limited budgets to play with higher level cards in Modern format. Because of their cheap price, players can level them up for less cost. If you want to climb at most Gold III, then the Foundation set, with a supplement from other sets can do the job.
