It is Only a Decision: Magical Battle Require systemic Set Up
Happy weekend to all Splinterlands lovers! How are you doing today?
There were times I was given the lost summoner to fight j the battle; and, times without numbers I have been given my strongest summoner to fight in the battles.
Playing battles may seem convincing because you are still looking for monsters to fight in the plethora of monsters given. I have made wrong decisions while selecting monsters, and I have also made right decisions.
Your decision while selecting battles has a lot of things to say in your lineup. Yesterday, I was trying to select between 2 summoners I was given in Frontier battles- Death and Earth Summoner. Not selecting the summoner was my biggest challenge; my biggest challenge was to get monsters that would deliver victory.
I picked Earth Summoner, and my opponent that was paired with me also picked Earth Summoner.
The mana cap that was given could only accommodate 2 monsters; then I picked Dread Tafarain and Kicking Roc.
My opponent also picked Dread Tafarian and Mad Gearhead.
Fortunately, all our monsters and summoners were of the same levels.
I won the battle because of 3 range attack of Kicking Roc. If I had chosen the same lineup as my opponent, the battle would have ended in a draw. Though, “half bread is better than none”, because I needed just 2 points to reach silver l.
The reason I narrated the above was that, there are times you need points to reach a certain level, by the time you make a wrong decision, it may take more effort to reach the point again.

In this battle I shared above, if I had made a wrong decision, I would have lost the battle. I shared the battle because I made a wrong decision, but I quickly realized the mistake I made. I changed the monsters before submitting my battle.
Umbral Elemental and Arachne Weaver were not among the monsters I selected. When I realized what they could offer, I quickly brought them to the lineup. If you watch the battle, you could see what they offered.

Fighting Weak Magic Rules
To fight Weak magic, the following things should be done
Get a Monster with Rust ability: I have a monster with rust ability, -2 armor would have been removed from all opponent’s monsters. The majority of the opponent's monsters would not have had armor.
This is the strategy I use whenever I fight weak magic in wild format. If it was wild format, I would have used a monster with rust ability, and monsters with melee attack. I don't have monster with rust ability in my modern format, I would have used it.

High Speed Monsters are Incredible to Use: the only time one can use monsters with lower speed is when a Reverse speed is attached to the battle rules; and in this battle, there was no reverse speed.
The majority of rules in splinterlands require high speed monsters.

Halfling Refugee
Splinter: Neutral⚔️⚔️⚔️
Level: 1 ⭐
Ability: Weary
Speed: 3 🚤🚤🚤
Health: 6 ❤️❤️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Armor: 2 🪖🪖
Attack: Melee
Mana: 1
Halfling Refugee’s mana was the biggest quality that attracted me to use. At the moment there is no 1 mana monster that can give 6 health. Most of the 1 mana monsters have lower health except Halfling Refugee.
Halfling Refugee was still in this battle at round three where I have already eliminated 3 monsters from the opponent’s lineup.
Though if the mana given in this battle was more than that, I would have used monsters with more abilities in the first position due to the fact that battles are often tough in the frontline.

Umbral Elemental.jpg
Umbral Elemental
Splinter: Death 💀💀💀
Level: 1 ⭐
Ability: Taunt
Speed: 2 🚤🚤
Health: 7 ❤️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Attack: Magic
Mana: 9

I don't want my frontline to get exposed too fast; and to avoid it it was necessary for me to use a taunt monster. It was crystal cleared that, all the opponent’s monsters kept on attacking Umbral Elemental, except a monster in the frontline.
After the elimination of Umbral Elemental, a monster with opportunity ability was able to attack any other monster. If not this strategy, Arachne Weaver would have been eliminated in the round of 2.
I also knew that it would take more time to damage 6 armor from Umbral Elemental. 3 monsters attacked Umbral Elemental’s armor before it was damaged.

Dark Arborist
Splinter: Death 💀💀💀
Level: 2 ⭐⭐
Ability: Demoralize
Speed: 2 🚤🚤
Health: 5 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Armor: 2 🪖🪖
Attack: Magic
Mana: 4
I already had an idea that my opponent may use melee monsters; and possibly, he might use a monster with inspired ability.
When the battle was wet in array, I saw that my opponent used a summoner that gave all friendly monsters +2 melee attacks. It was Dark Arborist that reduced -1 from it. If I did not use Dark Arborist there was no way I would have won.

Arachne Weaver (2).jpg
Arachne Weaver
Splinter: Death 💀💀💀
Level: 1 ⭐
Speed: 2 🚤🚤
Health: 3 ❤️♥️♥️
Armor: 2 🪖🪖
Attack: Magic
Mana: 5
Arachne Weaver gave more life to Umbral Elemental and Halfling Refugee. If not Arachne Weaver, it would have been difficult to win this battle.
I am engrossed with corrupted healing, and I like how it affected any damaged monster. It heals all damaged monsters in battle; the moment I saw how it healed all my monsters when I was fighting with Zaku, I was very happy to use it often.
While Dark Arborist was about to be terminated in the 5th round of the battle, it was Arachne Weaver that healed it.

Fenmoor Gorgon
Splinter: Death 💀💀💀
Level: 1 ⭐
Speed: 1 🚤
Health: 4 ❤️❤️♥️♥️
Armor: 2 🪖🪖
Attack: Magic
Mana: 5
The magic attack was everything I wanted from Fenmoor Gorgon

Ferrous Brewer
Splinter: Neutral ⚔️⚔️⚔️
Level: 1 ⭐
Ability: Charge
Speed: 1 🚤
Health: 4 ❤️❤️♥️♥️
Armor: 3 🪖🪖🪖
Attack: Melee
Mana: 4
The recharge ability of Ferrous Brewer makes it to attack in any position; to protect my back from a sneak monster; it was very important to use Ferrous Brewer. It was better for me to lose Ferrous Brewer than Fenmoor Gorgon.
