Hello fellow Hivers, I hope you have a happy day. This time, I'm here to share with you a new illustration I made for the Splinterlands contest. Today, I wanted to choose a Goblin I used occasionally in the game. I'm referring to Goblin Thief.

Goblin Thief isn't very useful in the game because there are better ones with their Sneak ability, but they're useful when you only need to use low-mana earth splinters. Their Sneak ability is good for attacking enemies coming from behind, like an archer or mage (these are usually supports), and if they have high defense, it's not a problem if you have a good level of Goblin Thief, because they'll have Shatter, which will completely destroy the enemy's armor, regardless of their defense.

The story tells us how Goblins view stealing as normal, but they don't tend to steal from each other in the city of Gobson. But the Goblin Thieves are more daring, as they roam the Splinter in search of caravans to rob. What is known about them is that they wear heavy clothing because underneath they carry many knives that they don't use to kill, but rather to frighten.

One of the most important elements in this illustration is the use of color and lighting. The Goblin is wrapped in shades of green, with shadows defining his muscles and face. His skin has dark undertones, while the light creates a contrast that highlights his expression.

The bright yellow light, which covers much of his face and body, creates an interplay of light and shadow that gives the Goblin depth. This represents gold, desire, temptation... and also the danger of being discovered. The rest of the environment is somewhat shrouded in darkness, as if he were trespassing unnoticed.

The Goblin's attire consists of a hooded cloak, armor pieces under the hood, and tight-fitting clothing that allows him to move with agility. The hood makes him look somewhat mysterious, hiding part of his face and reinforcing his role as a thief. The armor pieces are designed to protect without hindering, as he must not only steal, but also be protected from any inconvenience.

The colors of the outfit are in the range of browns, grays, and dark greens, which camouflages him in natural and city environments (at night). This choice of clothing distances him from the original design, which is more cartoonish and less tactical, featuring knives under his clothes. My version seeks to convey that this Goblin has survived many nights and knows what he's doing.

Although the background is somewhat dark, the lighting shows that the Goblin is in a dark environment, more precisely, in a house. Light is the only visible source, which creates an atmosphere of tension and stealth. There are no distractions; the entire focus is on the character, his action, his timing.

This type of intentional background is common in anime styles, where light and shadow are used to create a strong tension, as in Goblin Slayer. Here, the setting doesn't need to be full of details, because everything is explained through the character's gestures, their gaze, and the shine of the gold we see.

I chose an anime style, with clean lines and a very strong facial expression. The Goblin's eyes are large and bright, with a cunning look that conveys lust and desire. His smile reveals a few sharp fangs, but it's not an evil grin; rather, it's a mixture of satisfaction, mischief, and accomplishment.

His crouching posture, with the gold in hand and his body leaning forward, shows concentration and silence. At the same time, he looks at the gold with great satisfaction and desire.

The original Goblin Thief in Splinterlands has a more cartoonish design, with simpler proportions that are functional for the game. His expression is equally defined, and he wears an outfit much different from mine. He's a fairly effective character in combat.

My version, on the other hand, seeks to delve deeper into the Goblin's personality. He's not just a thief; he's a strategist who, despite appearing foolish, is very clever and knows what he's doing perfectly. The use of light, facial expressions, attire, and posture are all designed to convey desire, silence, and achievement.
