Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Survival of the Fittest

Hello Splinterlands Community, for this week I will share an interesting ranked battle I had where I manage to secure the victory without using any monsters that deals huge melee, ranged or magic damage to opponents. I mostly depend on the ruleset present in that match where low health/armor monsters would not able to survive multiple rounds.

The Battle

This is the ranked battle I had against an opponent where I used monsters Scavenger ability to take advantage of the ruleset in this match, I will share more details about this match. If you're interested on the outcome you can watch the battle using the link below.

The Ruleset
Earthquake

There are two ruleset for this match, first is earthquake. This ruleset causes all non flying monsters in the battlefield to take 2 melee damage every round. This ruleset can be migitated by having a good amount of armor as well as high amount of health. Flying monsters with good amount of health is also viable in this particular match
Noxious Fumes

The other ruleset is Noxious Fumes. This rule causes all monsters in the battlefield to be poisoned and would take 2 damage every round. Monsters with immune ability would not be affected by this ruleset as well as monsters that was targeted by a cleanse ability. Both these rulesets causes all monsters in the battlefield to take a maximum of 4 damage each round which fits the theme of this post "survival of the fittest".
My Lineup
Summoner : Thaddius Brood

I used Thaddius Brood as my summoner for this battle. It debuffs 1 magic damage and 1 health to all enemy monsters at the start of the match. It is a very effective summoner to used in this battle since there are only two elements usable in this battle and considering the rulesets present in this match, going with Thaddius Brood would be the right choice.
Monster 1 : Peaceful Giant

I placed the Peaceful Giant in the first position since it is a very durable card with 8 health but the downside of this card is that it does not deal any damage to opponents. It's purpose is to absorb all the initial damage coming from the enemies at the start of the match though this card would not last long in this battle with Earthquake and Noxious Fumes take effect each round.
Monster 2 : Carrion Shade

I used my gold foil Carrion Shade in this match not to deal massive damage to opponents but just to trigger the Scavenger ability of Riftwing and Gelatinous Cube to make them more durable throughout this match.
Monster 3 : Corpse Fiend

The gold foil Corpse Fiend also plays the same role with the Carrion Shade which is to trigger the Scavenger ability of Riftwing and Gelatinous Cube. It does not cost any mana and the reward bonus from using this gold foil card is very nice .
Monster 4 : Riftwing

I also used my Riftwing in this match, since it is a flying card this would affected by the Earthquake ruleset but not in the case with Noxius Fumes which would deal 2 damage at this card. It's Scavenger Ability is the key in order to gain some health during the match and survive the damage coming from the rulesets.
Monster 5 : Gelatinous Cube

Lastly I placed the Gelatinous Cube at the last position. It has the same ability with Riftwing which is the Scavenger ability. The only difference between the two cards is that the Riftwing has the flying ability while Gelatinous Cube does not have that ability. This card has a decent amount of health but it would take 4 damage each round just from the rulesets alone.

ROUND 1

Nobody was taken down during the first round, the Peaceful Giant was able to survive the magic and melee damages coming from the enemies, however it would not survive the earthquake and noxious fume rulesets which would take affect the start of the next round.
ROUND 2

The second round is very chaotic, every monster from both sides was taken down by the rulesets except my Riftwing and Gelatinous Cube as well as the opponents Mycelic Slipspawn and Regal Peryton. The rulesets in this match proves to be deadly and shows that low health monsters would definitely not survive. The scavenger ability from my units was mostly activated in this round where multiple monsters are being taken down.
ROUND 3

During the third round my Riftwing was taken down by the poison and magic damages from the opponents which leads me to my last monster that is the Gelatinous Cube. The scavenger ability from Gelatinious Cube was enough to survive the effects of the rulesets.
ROUND 4

On the fourth and final round, the opponent's monsters was not able to survive the Earthquake and Noxius Fume ruleset taking effect at the start of the round. My Gelatinous Cube was able to survive those damages and was able to live with 3 amount of health. If the Gelatinous Cube or Riftwing does not the scavenger ability, they would be taken down at the earlier rounds. That ability makes the difference that allows me to secure this victory.

nice battle lineup, but try to upgrade over time as you are you using all level 1 cards only, doing it for a while may be considered as post farming.
