What's up Splinterlands Community! It is another thrilling week as it is time for the latest edition of Splinterlands Community Engagament Challenge with the theme of Support Articles. The challenge for this week is to create a support article that explains the new Training Mode feature of the game that was just recently added. This feature replaces the Practice Mode which is very useful to both new players and experienced ones. The Training Mode is a handy tool inside the game that allows players to craft team compositions, challenge yourself against a tough opponent, test out the synergy of the card combinations and most importantly explore and try out the different cards from the previous sets that can only used in the game through purchasing these cards or by renting it in the marketplace. I will continue to talk more about the Training Mode feature in the game which includes the step by step process in setting up the Training Mode inside the game and I will also share the experience I had when I used the Training Mode feature in the game where I utilized the cards that is very valuable in the game.

The figure above shows the primary set-up when using the Training Mode feature inside the game. It can be found by clicking the Training button that is found on the upper part of the display and it is beside the Challenge and How to Play button and also where the countdown before the season ends as well as the game mode options to choose from which are Modern and Wild.

I will continue to walkthrough each step on how to create a Training Mode in the game so that you will be able to utilize this feature very well as this allows the players to experience different strategies in the game which hones the ability of the players to create team composition. The Training Mode is also a great place to practice and prepare yourself to climb up the ranks. Additionally, this feature allows players to become creative and have fun in checking out all the cards that is available in the game.

1.) Choosing the Difficulty

image.png

The first thing you need to think about is choosing the difficulty of the opponent which is an automated opponent that the game will be revealed once you have submitted the team. There are three options to choose from on the difficulty which are Easy, Medium and Hard. It is straightforward and based on my experience the Medium difficulty is quite challenging for me despite having years of experience in playing this game. It is very useful to have difficulty option in the Training Mode as it allows the players to assess and determine if the created team composition is good enough to take down an experienced opponent in a real battle.

2.) Allowed Cards

After selecting the difficulty of the opponent, the next thing that you need to decide is that allowed cards for the battle. There are also different options to choose from which are All Cards, Modern Cards, Ghost Cards and Ghost Modern Cards. The default option that was pre-selected is the All Cards option which allows you to deploy all the cards that is available in your collection. There is also an option to practice the set-up on the Modern ranked battle by selecting the Modern Cards and the Ghost Modern option in the Training Mode. This option allows players to refine their strategies and creativity in creating different team composition that would work very well in the Modern battles in Ranked, Tournaments and Guild Brawls as well.

3.) Summoner Level Caps

Lastly, the Summoner Level Caps should also been configured when setting up Training Mode. Similarly with the previous two configuration, the Summoner Level Caps have also multiple options to choose from which are Novice, Adept, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert. Each Summoner Level Caps has its own limitation on the level of the cards that can be deployed in the battlefield which is also based on the rarity of the monster or summoner. This option is also very handy especially when competing on different tournaments where there is a specific summoner level caps that has been set-up. It is also useful as well in preparation for Guild Brawls since there are different Frays and each of it has its own Summoner Level Caps configured.

My Training Mode

image.png

This is the Training Mode that I have created to test out different monsters in the game that I have not yet tried. I choose Medium for the difficulty since I want to have some tough challenge against experienced opponent and it will also help me to determine if the team composition I have created is effective or not. Since I am planning to utilize the cards in the game that I have not yet tried, I have selected the Ghost Cards in the allowed cards which allows me to use every single card that is available in the game. The available monsters will also be limited depending on the rulesets and elements that are present in the match. Lastly, I have selected Expert on the Summoner Level Caps, this allows me to maximize the level of the cards that I am planning to deploy to the team wherein I will able to experience the maximum power that the monster can bring in the battlefield.

This is the battle on the Training Mode that I have created. I was able to utilize a summoner that I was not able to used before which is Plado Emberstorm that provides additional melee damage and speed to the entire team at the start of the match and it reduces the health of all enemy units at the start of match as well. I have also used powerful cards in the game that were very popular such as Halfling Alchemist and Elanor Bravefoot. If you are interested to see all of the action happened in the match you can witness it by clicking the battle link below.

It is a great experience to be able to deploy these cards in my team composition and to be able to see them work well with my other units in the battlefield. I have also discovered a lot of new things especially when building my team composition because the Ghost Cards in the selection gives me a huge selection of cards that I can used for the battle. It is very overwhelming for me to see all the cards in the game which are very powerful and valuable. The Training Mode feature makes it possible for everyone to check out these cards and experience it first hand on how these monsters would perform in the battlefield.
