My plan for Land 1.75: Balancing Resources in the New Era

As March 18th approaches, the excitement across Praetoria is live! Land 1.75 is set to revolutionize how we manage our territories in Splinterlands, introducing entirely new resource dynamics and economic opportunities.

My Current Territory Status

Before diving into my strategy, let me share my current territory setup:

  • Total plots: 127+ plots across various terrains
  • Grain production: 25,257 GRAIN/hr with 474,689 ready to harvest
  • Research production: 326.62 Research/hr with 6,130 ready
  • SPS production: 6.32 SPS/hr with 119.335 ready
  • DEC staked: 5.43 million

Most of my plots (96) are currently dedicated to Grain Farms, with a smaller number (27) operating as Research Huts and a few Shard Mines for SPS production. While this configuration has served me well until now, Land 1.75 demands a complete rethinking of resource allocation and production priorities.

Understanding the New Resource Dynamics

The most significant change in Land 1.75 is the introduction of balanced resource requirements. The production rates per Production Point per hour reveal the challenge ahead:

  • Grain: 0.02 (unchanged)
  • Wood: 0.005 (1/4 of Grain)
  • Stone: 0.002 (1/10 of Grain)
  • Iron: 0.0005 (1/40 of Grain)

These rates make Wood, Stone, and Iron much more limited in supply compared to Grain. But here's the critical part: SPS and Research production will now require ALL resources. For every 1 base Production Point spent per hour toward SPS or Research production, you'll need:

  • 0.005 Wood
  • 0.002 Stone
  • 0.0005 Iron

This means if you have a 5,000 PP Research plot, you'll need equivalent Wood, Stone, and Iron production to match it for self-sufficiency.

Even more importantly, Totem Fragments can now ONLY be found when harvesting from Research Huts, Castles, or Keeps, making these buildings more valuable than ever.

My Comprehensive Land 1.75 Strategy

After analyzing the upcoming changes, I've developed a three-phase strategy for my Shadowvale territory:

Immediate Resource Rebalancing

  1. Harvest all available resources to maximize flexibility at launch
  2. Convert selected Grain Farms to resource production buildings:

Wood Production (Logging Camps):

  • PR-SHC-138-03-037 (Swamp/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-03-047 (Swamp/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-03-048 (Swamp/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-03-051 (Swamp/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-04-092 (Forest/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-04-093 (Forest/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-04-095 (Jungle/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-04-100 (Forest/common)

Stone Production (Quarries):

  • PR-SHC-138-04-082 (Hills/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-04-091 (Hills/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-08-023 (Hills/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-08-030 (Hills/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-08-040 (Hills/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-08-041 (Hills/common)

Iron/Ore Production (Mines):

  • PR-SHC-138-03-094 (Mountain/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-03-095 (Mountain/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-03-099 (Mountain/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-08-071 (Mountain/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-08-083 (Mountain/common)
  • PR-SHC-138-10-014 (Mountain/common)

Post-Launch Optimization

  1. Analyze the new liquidity pools to determine optimal resource allocation
  2. Assess resource production rates and make fine-tuning adjustments
  3. Optimize high-value plots (especially those with Magical attributes):
    • PR-SHC-138-03-003 (Bog/legendary/Magical:Water - 101,500 PP)
    • PR-SHC-138-03-007 (Bog/epic/Occupied - 59,500 PP)
    • PR-SHC-138-03-093 (Mountain/common/Magical:Fire - 53,828 PP)

Long-Term Strategy

  1. Target resource ratio: 60% Grain, 15% Wood, 10% Stone, 7-8% Iron, remainder for Research/SPS
  2. Implement a "resource-first" approach: Ensure sufficient resource production before maximizing Research/SPS
  3. Strategic Research Hut placement on Magical plots to maximize Totem Fragment discovery

Plot Optimization Principles

My approach to plot optimization follows these key principles:

  1. Terrain-Building Alignment: Match buildings to appropriate terrain types:

    • Research Huts on Magical plots (especially rare+ rarity)
    • Shard Mines on Occupied plots
    • Resource buildings on their respective terrain types
    • Grain Farms on remaining high-PP plots
  2. Rarity Utilization: Prioritize higher rarity plots for specialized functions:

    • Legendary/Epic plots for Research/SPS production
    • Rare plots for strategic resource production
    • Common plots for standard resource gathering
  3. Production Power Focus: Allocate highest PP plots to the most valuable functions, with particular attention to the enhanced value of Research Huts for Totem Fragment discovery

Conclusion

Land 1.75 represents not just an update but a fundamental shift in how land resources function in Splinterlands. By pivoting from a Grain-centric approach to a balanced resource strategy, I'm positioning my Shadowvale #138 territory to thrive in this new economic reality.
Thank you!
