Uranus | Planetary Collection #3

Uranus

Hi guys! Do you remember that months ago I was making a collection of illustrations about the solar system? No? really? well, I have taken it up again, and of course I have followed the reverse order, first Pluto, then Neptune and now Uranus.

English is not my mother tongue, but really the word Uranus, it makes me laugh, call me silly or that is a very obvious and childish pun, but I still laugh at that nonsense.

-Step 1:

As usual, I started sketching the girl, improving the lines layer after layer until the body was correctly sketched with a dynamic and imposing pose.

-Step 2:

Then create three new layers for the base colors of the background, the planet and the character, to use clipping masks and proceed to detailing based on the silhouette.

-Step 3:

According to the image I was using as reference for this girl, she was wearing a dress, normally when I use photographs, I take them as reference only for the body, but I liked this one so much that I decided that the dress should be in the illustration.

I also looked for an image of the planet Uranus and added it to the silhouette of the circle, so I had the color reference of the planet ready.

-Step 4:

Here of course I must talk about the halo of light around her hip. This is achieved by putting together rings with the typical colors of the rainbow, specifically, red, yellow, green, blue and violet, once all arranged in a complete ring, they are blurred with a Gaussian blur. Then they are deformed with the transform tool and the layer is configured in screen mode, although I have subsequently modified the colors obtained to make them colder and fit them in the color palette of the illustration.

-Step 5:

To the planet, I have taken it out of its light blue color and I have taken it to a cyan blue, since the planet is usually represented in a very pale tone, but without going too much to white to make it more attractive to the eye.

Then I have blended tone in a new layer with Ctrl+Shift+alt+e, to go to the Camera Raw filter and modify some tones in the illustration, so you can see that the skin becomes more orange and mixes a little better the warm colors with the cold ones.

By the way, the planet melting on the girl's arm, was a last minute detail, I was already exporting the images when that idea came to my head and really without this, the illustration would have been without that striking touch, and I feel that this is the weakest piece of the collection so far.

Nice work! And I'm glad there is somebody here who mints on GhostMarket? How has it been for you so far? I am planning to move my OpenSea collection there.

Well I'm not going to lie to you, Ghostmarket has a bit of a problem, there aren't too many collectors, which sometimes causes your pieces to get stuck. So you can create for both platforms
