Nonconformity | Digital Painting

I feel that something is missing, I feel that little is left over. It is never enough, it is always necessary. My life is not complete, I do not possess quantities. Loneliness overwhelms me, but company destroys me.
A simple girl, tired of talking, of following and fighting. Having everything I just want to lie on the ground without moving forward; I bring a huge weight that I always have to drag, are all those things I own but never wanted to use.
Qualities that I like, but others don't, I must repress everything so that they can accept me, society destroys you, despairs you, criticizes you and turns you into something you are not. You want what you don't have and push away what you have.
They call it nonconformity.

-Step 1:
As usual, I started by sketching the girl, who in the original image was holding a smartphone and her left hand was not very visible (which would become a nightmare for me later).

-Step 2:
I wanted to work with very dark tones this time, so in a new layer under the sketch I filled in the body shape, then painted it and gave it volume with the airbrush and using clipping masks to paint without fear of getting out or ruining the base shape.
But I didn't want to paint her face, I wanted something more mysterious but without her wearing a mask, so I opted for a veil denoting something creepy underneath.

-Step 3:
If something was clear to me from the moment I made the first stroke of this piece, it was that it had to have fabric. I really wanted to paint fabric other than the clothes I normally make, but I had to look for references because honestly I do it terribly if I do it from my imagination.

-Step 4:
To enhance the fabric, I darkened the background even more, later I had to increase the brightness because on my pc it looked great but on my smartphone the artwork was too dark.
I also worked even more on the skin, the airbrush strokes looked good but they lacked a touch of life, so I used a stronger brush without hesitation.

-Step 5:
The right hand was a piece of cake, but the left hand had me a long time analyzing it and trying to fit the fingers.
And of course I must talk about that texture of water droplets. My idea was to make it look like wet glass, so I looked for textures of that type and I was arranging them and using layer masks to gently erase the edges, set them in screen blending mode to disappear their black backgrounds and at the end apply a new layer mask to leave the space where there would be no water.
The truth is I'm not very happy with the result, it didn't end up being what I expected, but I think it's a good start. What do you think? do you like that water texture or do you think the piece was better without it? also tell me how much you had to increase the brightness of your screen to see the image.

I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.
