Grateful for Time with My Son

Today was another day home. I'm cherishing this time, since once I begin my new job, I'll be out "in the field" most of the day. The up-side is that our financial situation will most likely improve, but still.... I have to remember priorities.

My youngest boy has been a hand-full today. He's used to being the "baby" of the household, but now with our newest little one, it seems he's having some trouble adjusting to being big brother. He's growing up fast and he's not getting the attention he used to.

That is why he stayed with daddy today.

He does get a little bored, but that's ok. Learning how to deal with doing nothing for a while is good for a little boy - there is plenty of time for him to be active and engaged. He is surrounded by people who love him and care for him.

It's a huge blessing for me to be able to keep him near, keep him out of trouble and keep his heart from going it's own way.

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.

Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books.

I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.

Greetings @gratefuleveryday ,

You are both fortunate to have this cool day together.

One of the finest things to learn in life is how to enjoy one's own company...if that can be learned...no more boredom.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

Speaking of which, how far off are you from recovering what was stolen? Or did you manage to get that back at all?

it seems he's having some trouble adjusting to being big brother.

Lol! I bet. I think he may subconsciously know he just had a large supply of responsibility stuck on him. But it will grow on him and I'm sure with the environment you seem to be giving around your family he's going to be just fine as Gods soldier against evil.

Grow gardens not war.

Cheers from the South

I have about 10% now of what I had originally. Most of that recovery was from the generosity of the community. My thief sent back a few 2nd layer tokens, about 1% of my original portfolio. No insurance or bailouts on the blockchain, it's the wild, wild web. I knew that signing up. My crypto investment was a long-term savings, really the thief stole more from my children than from me. My concerns are more immediate, pay the bills right now sort of thing.

Beast's fiat to keep the lights on.

Yes, I want to train my boy to not pick up weapons, but understand that his sword will be his tongue, his shield will be his faith, his armor will be his endurance and his head-guard will be GRATEFULNESS. These have been what's keeping me going through the war and I want to be a good example for him.

Grow gardens not war.

Absolutely. And if the enemy steals the fruit of our garden, we must remember he's stealing from the owner, not the worker. Our job is to keep working and not turn our ploughs into swords and remember that vengeance belongs to God and not us. If we steal that vengeance from God, we're no better! Keep on gardening!

Great to hear it's coming back swell. As for the thief, hope he needed it more than you. What I mean is, I hope the end justifies the means for his questionable deed, but like you said, that's between him and God.

I might add that our ploughs can turn to swords if need be but hopefully it never comes to that. Best to have a sword and not use it than have to use it and not have it.

The tongue and pen are also swords.

hope he needed it more

Nobody wants to work 7 years building a following and careful investments just to have it all taken away by a thief.... however I have forgiven him and I am focusing on the future and things that are more important. I would suppose he needed it more and I hope somehow something good is done with that stolen resource - something better than if I had it still!

our ploughs can turn to swords if need be

There may be a time for that, but I hope it's not in my lifetime or the lifetime of my children.

Best to have a sword and not use it

Agreed, but in the meantime let's grow gardens not war. We need that plough for the garden!

The young boy will find the right balance between big brother and man in charge when one of the Parent is not at home or far.

He has a way to go before "man in charge", but we can start with "big brother". !BBH

It is great that you are showing gratitude for spending time with your son because usually people want more things in life, which makes them unhappy, like perhaps wanting to have more children or maybe even wanting their children to perform better in their lives or even wanting more finances the list goes on.

Finding joy in doing good, helps keep priorities straight. Some things in our lives would be easier if we had more income, but that requires time away from family. I will have to get creative to maintain the things that are most important. !BBH

It's very common for children with new siblings to feel displaced. I don't remember that happening to me with my younger brother, but I sure hear about it a lot. What you said about it being good for children to handle doing nothing sometimes is spot on, as I know children who don't know how to do that, so they need to be constantly entertained by others. I think that your meeting your son's frustration very well indeed. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Entertainment is addictive, as if our brains don't know what to do while not being entertained. I suppose that explains streaming content 24/7. It's tempting sometimes to "plug in" our children to cartoons and games, but we have to resist that and limit that screen time. We notice that their behavior is much improved when we limit screen time and maximize staying close to daddy or mommy. !BBH

Indeed it is, and it's designed to be so. The whole entertainment 24/7 thing is just bread-and-circus distraction. Yep, it is easy to just put kids on screens to keep them busy, but it creates a growing separation in families. I've noticed that too, about behavior being better with less time on screens. You're got the right idea, Benjamin! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
