Hotsauce Storage - Refrigerator - Everything You Need to Know

In the Stakehouse Den ecosystem (part of the Splinterlands universe), the Refrigerator is an elegantly simple yet powerful feature tied to the Hot Sauce reward system. Think of it as your cold storage: once you’ve generated Hot Sauce by staking cards, the Refrigerator is where you stash it—until you’re ready to claim or use it.

What the Refrigerator Does

By default, every user gets 50 Hot Sauce in free storage—that’s your base capacity. Once you hit that cap, any additional Hot Sauce produced won’t be stored until you expand that space. There’s no magic trick here; it’s a gating mechanic designed to make storage part of the strategy.

The clever twist is that you can expand the Refrigerator’s capacity—and by quite a lot—by burning Script tokens. Here’s the progression:

Amount of Script BurnedMultiplier (×) of Base CapacityTotal Hot Sauce Storage Allowed
1 Script150
5 Script1,000
25 Script6,250
50 Script15,000
100 Script35,000 )
250 Script100,000
500 Script225,000
1,000 Script10×500,000 total Hot Sauce cap

So, by burning more Script, you gain more storage space. This means earned Hot Sauce isn’t lost through overflow—you can scale your capacity as your engagement deepens.

Why It Matters

From a game-economics and rewards design standpoint, the Refrigerator serves several key roles:

  • Prevent waste: Without sufficient storage, earned rewards can’t accumulate beyond the cap. That forces players to keep an eye on their capacity, rather than letting rewards sit unused.

  • Engage token utility: Burning Script to increase capacity adds real purpose to holding and using Script. It isn’t just an ancillary token—it’s directly linked to how much reward potential you can access.

  • Scalable reward progression: As players acquire more or better cards, produce more Hot Sauce, they’re encouraged to invest in storage upgrades. This ensures that higher engagement is matched by higher benefit.
