When My Hoe Hit History

Just like the rest of the other mornings, that was how my day started. I dressed up in my farm outfit, carried my shovel cutlass, as I set out to continue the digging the hole that I began a day before where I will plant the rest of the bananas at the back of my house in Ilorin. It was about the rain because the weather has changed. I love that because with the rain, it will make the ground softer to dig.

But as I was using my cutlass to dig, my cutlass brushed on something hard, which gave a 'ding ding' hard metallic sound. I continued to dig further, but I kept hearing the sound, which made me more curious to enlarge the hole where I saw traces of a strange, gold-plated, shining object.

At first, I thought it was all these old, ancient, abandoned plates, because history has it that those forefathers who came before us loved using fancy plates to eat and cook. But as I was digging, this object kept showing up like it had no end. I can not even describe the shape because I have never seen such before. My heart began to beat faster. Is it possible that this is a rocket shuttle that has been under my banana plantation for long? Curiosity struck me more.

As I was digging, a lot of things were flashing across my mind: should I call the neighbors, inform the community elders, or call my friends, or should I continue the digging alone? One side of me wanted to continue digging; the other side said I should raise the alarm and inform the right authorities.

In my country, where news of discoveries like that goes viral in no time, this would make me famous in a few seconds. But more than all those paparazzi, I was more curious to know how it got there, what the things inside were, and what it was used for.

And let's say I found a discovery like that, I will make sure I safeguard it and share my own side of the story for others to know.
