This is my first post to the Social Media Challenge! Splinterlands is a very special game for me and I can't not participate in this theme.

🎴Discovery of Splinterlands

I entered the world of Splinterlands in October 2018. As you all know, the game was initially called Steem Monsters.

Around this time, I started to see a few posts here and there about Steem Monsters in the Japanese community on Steemit. That sparked my interest in it. I myself was never particularly fond of or good at games, but when fellow Steemit members started talking about how they could make money from them, I decided to give it a try.

@sallyfun wrote about how to earn money by collecting, buying and selling cards. She also told me that gold cards give you better battle rewards. I decided to follow her strategy and collect gold cards. By the way, in the early days, all daily rewards were cards (no $DEC or potions) and I was able to collect quite a lot of cards for free during this period.

🎴I've been here five years

I now use this @go-kyo account to post blog posts and play games, but during my Steemit days I used @ultraseven.

What was interesting at the time was that when we were battling, we would suddenly run into people I knew in the Japanese community at Steemit. Afterwards, we would write posts about it and have a lot of fun. Even now, I sometimes get upset when I get matched with someone from the same guild... I think that's the fun of having social media and games on the same account.

So I have been playing with splinterlands since October 2018, although my account has changed along the way.

🎴What I accomplished in Splinterlands

There are a few things I have accomplished in Splinterlands. That I withdrew some of my airdropped $SPS and bought a computer. Making my whole family (husband and 2 sons) Splinterlands fans. Collected a lot of gold cards. Created a guild!

I did not enter this game with any particular goal in mind. In the beginning, I started with some idea that it was true or not that I could earn money, but on the contrary, I spent the $DEC from Steemit posts and battle rewards and bought a lot of additional cards... Eventually, my desire to collect sparked and I started collecting gold cards Because of this, my money on hand did not increase at all, and I did not feel that it was a particularly "profitable game" during 2018-2020. Collecting gold cards finally turned out to be very good, though.

It was not until the early summer of 2021 that I began to realize that Splinterlands was generating money. This is when the $DEC price began to rise and the per-battle rewards began to rise in dollar terms. However, even at this time, the money on hand did not increase because the $DEC earned was used to buy orbs and dice.

Then the $SPS airdrop started and SPS prices started to skyrocket. I basically put the money into staking and got paid for staking at the same time as the airdrop, but in the fall I withdrew some of it and bought a new computer with the money. This computer that Splinterlands bought for me, my second son dropped it off the table and the HDMI plugs were bent. But I plan to use it until it breaks!

Also around the same time, I started my own guild. At that time, the name of the guild was "Hollyhocks"... The name has no particular meaning, simply because I love the flower of the hollyhock. Then, last winter (2022), I was invited to join the "龍の旅団" community, and we are now known as the "龍の旅団 玄武隊".

🎴Goals for the future in Splinterlands

"龍の旅団" is a Japanese-language community with friendly, interesting, and strong players. If you sort the guild list by language "Japanese", it looks like this.

My guild, "玄武隊", is 6th from the top. My goal is to improve this ranking! I would like to say... but the guilds up to 5th place are too strong. "玄武隊" is currently short of members, so we need to gather members first!

So, if you are playing alone, why don't you join "龍の旅団 玄武隊"?

Currently, there are 12 participants in "玄武隊", and there are 5 slots available for the maximum number of 17. We welcome transfers from other guilds. We mainly communicate using Discord, but since you will be joining the "龍の旅団" general community server, you can exchange information with other members of other guilds. I am not very good at collecting the latest information, so I always get information from this Discord. If you are interested in joining, please comment on this post or contact go-kyo on Twitter.

🎴Advice for beginners

There are many ways to enjoy Splinterlands.

Collect rare cards, aim for higher ranks in seasons and tournaments, earn money by buying, selling or renting cards, trade $DEC or $SPS, join guilds and exchange information, write blog posts about Splinterlands. I am sure there are many other ways I am not aware of.

I myself entered the game initially for the money, but my interest has shifted to other fun things (card collecting and community participation), and the earning potential has become secondary. Still, if you participate for a long period of time, you will occasionally encounter token or card price increases. If you act at the right time, you could make money. Unfortunately, I myself have developed so many memories and attachments to cards (especially older cards) that I can no longer sell them...lol!

初めてSocial Media Challengeに投稿します！私にとってSplinterlandsは特別なゲームで、このテーマは参加しないわけにはいかなかったので 😂

🎴スプリンターランドとの出会い

私がSplinterlandsに参入したのは、2018年の10月です。当時このゲームはSteem Monstersという名称でした。

Steemitの日本人コミュニティでSteem Monstersに関する投稿を見かけるようになり、それがきっかけで興味を持つようになりました。私自身は元々特段ゲームが好きなわけでも得意なわけでもないのですが、Steemit仲間の方々から「ゲームで稼げる」という話があがるようになり、試してみることにしたのです。

特にサリーさんはカードの収集、売買によって稼ぐ方法を発信されていました。またゴールドカードを使用するとバトル報酬が良くなることも教えてもらい、私も彼女の戦略に倣ってゴールドカードを集めることにしたのです。ちなみに初期はデイリー報酬は全てカードで（$DECやポーションはなかった）、この時期にかなり多くのカードを無料で集めることができました。

🎴いつの間にか5年が経過・・・

現在はこの@go-kyoアカウントでブログ記事の投稿やゲームのプレイをしていますが、Steemit時代は@ultrasevenを使っていました。

当時面白かったのが、バトルをしていると唐突に、日本人コミュニティ内の知り合いと遭遇することでした。その後、それをネタに記事を書いたりしてワイワイしました。今でも同じギルドの人とマッチングして慌てる、変な汗をかく、ということは時々起こりますが… ソーシャルメディアとゲームを同じアカウントで行っている面白さがそこにあると思います。

そんなわけで、途中でアカウントは変わったものの私は2018年の10月からずっとsplinterlandsで遊んでいます。

🎴Splinterlandsで成し遂げたこと

私がSplinterlandsで達成したことはいくつかあります。エアドロップされた$SPSの一部を払い出し、パソコンを買ったこと。家族全員（夫、息子2人）をSplinterlandsファンにしたこと（笑）ゴールドカードをたくさん集めたこと。そして、ギルドを立ち上げたことです。

私は特に目標を持ってこのゲームに参入したわけではありませんでした。当初は「稼げるって本当？」と思って何となく始めたわけですが、逆にSteemitの記事報酬やバトル報酬の$DECを費やして、追加でたくさんカードを買ってしまいました… そのうち収集欲に火がついて、ゴールドカードを集めるようになってしまったため、手元のお金は全く増えず。2018〜2020年の間は特に「稼げるゲーム」という印象は持っていませんでした。ゴールドカードの収集は、結果的にとても良かったんですけどね。

Splinterlandsがお金を生んでいる、と実感し始めたのは2021年の初夏からです。$DEC価格が上がり始め、1バトルあたりの報酬が$換算で上昇し始めました。とはいえこの頃も、稼いだ$DECはオーブやダイスを買うのに使っていたため、手元のお金は増えていませんでした。

その後、夏ごろに$SPSのエアドロップが始まりSPS価格が高騰し始めました。私はエアドロされた$SPSは基本的にステーキングに回し、エアドロップと同時にステーキング報酬を得るようにしていました。ただ秋にその一部を払い出し、そのお金でパソコンを買いました。Splinterlandsに買ってもらったこのパソコン、次男がテーブルから落としてHDMIの差し込み口が曲がっていますが・・・ダメになるまで使います🤣

また同じ時期に、自分でもギルドを立ち上げました。当時は「Hollyhocks」というギルド名でした…　この名称に特に意味はなく、単に私が、タチアオイの花が好きだったからです。その後、昨年（2022年）の冬に「龍の旅団」コミュニティに参加させてもらうことになり、現在は「龍の旅団 玄武隊」として活動しています。

🎴今後の目標

「龍の旅団」は日本語のコミュニティで、親切でおもしろい、そして強いプレイヤーが揃っています。ギルド一覧を言語「Japanese」でソートをかけると、こんな感じ。

私のギルドである「玄武隊」は上から6番目に位置しています。この順位を上げていくことが今後の目標です！

・・・と言いたいところですが、5位までのギルドが強過ぎますね。「玄武隊」は現在人が足りていないので、まずはメンバーを集める必要があります！

というわけで、もし一人でプレイしている方がいたら、「玄武隊」に参加しませんか？ 現在「 玄武隊」参加者は12名、定員17名に対して5枠空きがある状態です。他ギルドからの移籍も大歓迎。主にDiscordを利用してやりとりしていますが、「龍の旅団」総合コミュニティサーバーに参加していただくことになるため、他隊の方とも情報交換が可能です。私も最新情報には疎いので、いつもこのDiscordから情報をもらっています。入団？入隊？ご希望の方はこの投稿にコメント頂くか、go-kyoのTwitter宛にご連絡ください。

🎴これから始める方へ

Splinterlandsの楽しみ方は人によって様々だと思います。

カードを集める、シーズンやトーナメントで上位を目指す、カードの売買やレンタルでお金を稼ぐ、$DECや$SPSをトレードする、ギルドに参加して情報交換する、Splinterlandsに関するブログ記事を書く。他にも私の知らない方法もたくさんあると思います。

私自身は当初お金目的で参入しましたが、他の楽しさ（カード収集やコミュニティ参加）に興味が移り、稼げるかどうかは二の次になってしまった感じです。それでも長期に渡って参加していれば、時折トークン価格やカード価格の上昇に遭遇することがあります。そのタイミングで行動すればお金をつくることはできるはずです。残念ながら、私自身はカード（特に古いカード）にたくさんの思い出と愛着が生まれてしまったため、売ることができなくなってしまったのですが…😢
