Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Mad Kaboomist (Eng/Ita)

After the justified excitement that flooded the Splinterlands world during the Presale of the new card edition, Conclave Arcana, things have calmed down a bit, and with a clearer mind, we can now analyze the situation of the new cards and their impact on the game's economy and mechanics more rationally.

Aside from the ultra-limited edition collector’s card Archmage Yabanius—currently priced around $220, though it hit $1000 just a few days ago—the other monsters are very reasonably priced. This may be due to the larger volume of cards being listed on the market from the main sale.

In second place, we have the new summoner Sheng Xiao, priced around $17. However, it does not possess the Bloodline Dominion, the new trait introduced in this edition—something players still need time to fully understand.

In third place is my favorite card from this edition: Gramel The Hunger. Its price has dropped to $16. As the first monster with 3 types of attacks, it’s one of the cards I’ve used the most, and it has even helped me win a few matches. However, it also has several weaknesses that may not be obvious at first glance.

Let’s take this opportunity from this week’s Splinterlands Social Media Challenge to talk about one of the newcomers in this card edition!

Mad Kaboomist: from the illustration and name, this character is instantly charming. He looks like a true explosives enthusiast, ready to blow things up at any cost—even if it puts his own life in danger!

An Earth element monster, with a cost of 4 mana, 1 health, and 2 Speed and Magic. At level 1, he also has the Snipe ability.

His Bloodline is Dwarf, which means he can also be summoned by the new Fire group archon Fithe Bladestone, gaining the Void ability.

Already at level 3, he becomes interesting, gaining the Divine Shield ability. At level 5, he adds Reveal, and at his final upgrade level, he also gets Affliction.

The market price is currently ridiculously low, only 6 cents per card, making him very easy to upgrade for all types of players, even those with limited funds.

This battle, in Modern format, had a very low Mana Cap, just 13, where I decided to field 2 Conclave Arcana cards to start getting familiar with them. Choosing Underboss Fabino as summoner, I placed Halfling Refugee in the tank position, followed by Mad Kaboomist, Blackmoor Jinx, Phlegmunculus, and finally Elanor Bravefoot.

My opponent, on the other hand, decided to use all available mana for just one card, summoning Grimbardun Fighter with the summoner Prunda Undervesch. With its 3 melee attack points, this card could really hurt my lineup.

Fielding a single card in very low Mana Cap battles is a common strategy: you use all available mana to deploy a single powerful monster with boosted stats and abilities that should dominate the battlefield.

But it’s a strategy I don’t like. In fact, I always adopt the opposite method: I try in every way to fill as many positions as possible to have more active cards that can deal and absorb damage every round.

Of course, I’ve built a card deck that supports this strategy, purchasing and upgrading low-mana-cost cards like Halfling Refugee and Elanor Bravefoot.

In this battle, Mad Kaboomist performed very well, and even in other matches I’ve tested him in, he’s proven to be a solid card on the field. He may not be miraculous, but for only 4 mana and a market price of just 6 cents, he’s definitely a monster worth owning and upgrading.

Ciao a tutti amici di Splinterlands !!!

Dopo il motivato entusiasmo che ha inondato il mondo di Splinterlands durante la Presale della nuova edizione di carte, la Conclave Arcana, ora è tornata un po' di calma, e con la mente più lucida, possiamo analizzare con più freddezza la situazione delle nuove carte e del loro impatto sull'economia e sulle meccaniche di gioco di questa piattaforma.

A parte la carta da collezione, dalla tiratura estremamente ridotta, Archmage Yabanius, che ora viaggia sui 220 $, mentre pochi giorni fa aveva toccato i 1000, gli altri mostri hanno prezzi molto ragionevoli, forse anche perchè con gli acquisti nella sale principale, ci sono molte più carte da mettere in vendita.

Al secondo posto, abbiamo il nuovo evocatore Sheng Xiao, con una quotazione intorno ai 17$, che però non possiede la Bloodline Dominion, nuova caratteristica introdotta da questa nuova edizione, ma che i giocatori, ancora, hanno bisogno di tempo per capirne le funzionalità.

Al terzo posto troviamo la mia carta preferita di questa nuova edizione, ovvero Gramel The Hunger, il cui prezzo è sceso a 16 $, primo mostro ad avere 3 attacchi, è una delle nuove carte che ho usato di più, e mi ha fatto vincere anche qualche partita, però possiede anche molti punti deboli che forse non sono subito evidente al primo sguardo.

Prendiamo l'occasione del Splinterlands Social Media Challenge di questa settimana, per parlare di uno dei nuovi arrivati di questa edizione di carte !

Mad Kaboomist: dall'illustrazione e dal nome, questo personaggio ispira subito simpatia, sembra un vero appassionato di esplosivi, pronto a far prendere fuoco a qualsiasi cosa, pur rischiando la pelle ogni volta !

Mostro dell'elemto Earth, dal costo di 4 mana, con 1 di health e 2 di Speed e Magia , al livello 1 possiede anche l'abilità Snipe.

La sua Bloodline è Dwarf, quindi può essere evocato anche dal nuovo archon, del gruppo Fire, Fithe Bladestone, guadagnando anche l'abilità Void.

Già al livello 3 inizia a diventare interessante, guadagnano l'abilità Divine Shield, a cui si aggiunge, al livello 5, l'abilità Reveal, e, all'ultimo livello di potenziamento, l'abilità Affliction.

Il prezzo sul mercato è attualmente ridicolo, solo 6 centesimi per carta, dunque è molto facile da potenziare per tutti i tipi di giocatori, anche quelli che non hanno tanti fondi a disposizione.

Sfida , nel formato Modern, a bassissimo Mana Cap, solo 13, dove io ho deciso di schierare ben 2 carte Conclave Arcana, giusto per iniziare a prendere confidenza, infatti scegliendo Underboss Fabino come evocatore, ho messo in posizione Tank Halfling Refugee, seguito da Mad Kaboomist, Blackmoor Jinx, Phlegmunculus, e, per finire, Elanor Bravefoot.

Il mio avversario, al contrario, ha scelto di usare i mana a disposizione per schierare una sola carta, con l'evocatore Prunda Undervesch, ovvero Grimbardun Fighter, che con i suoi 3 punti di attacco melee potrebbe far molto male alle mie carte.

Schierare una sola carta , nelle sfide a bassissimo Mana Cap, è una strategia che si trova spesso: si usano tutti i mana a disposizione, per mettere un solo mostro forte, che con le sue stats e abilità molto più potenziate degli avversari, dovrebbe riuscire a dominare il campo di battaglia.

Ma è una strategia che a me non piace, e anzi, adotto sempre la metodologia contraria: cerco, in tutti i modi, di occupare più posizioni possibili, e questo per avere più carte attive , che possono dare e ricevere colpi ad ogni round.

Ovviamente, ho anche creato un mazzo di carte che favorisce questa mia strategia, comprando e potenziando carte dal basso costo in termini di mana, come Halfling Refugee e Elanor Bravefoot.

In questa sfida, Mad Kaboomist si è comportato molto bene, ma anche in altre sfide in cui l'ho testato, ha dimostrato di essere una carta solida in campo, che certo non fa meraviglie, ma per il costo in mana di solo 4, e il costo suo mercato si soli 6 centesimi, si propone come un mostro da avere e potenziare per tutti.
