Hay una clave pública, que vendría a ser el IBAN de una cuenta bancaria y una clave privada que sería el PIN. En este apartado entran también las carteras de papel que en caso de romperse no permiten la recuperación de los criptoactivos, ni siquiera con la frase de recuperación. En segundo lugar tenemos las carteras en caliente o hot wallets, cuyo nivel de seguridad es inferior a las anteriormente citadas ya que estamos más expuestos a la acción de hackers al estar más tiempo conectados a la red, pero hay que reconocer que son más prácticas . Las puedes usar desde el el ordenador, tablet o teléfono. Hablamos por ejemplo de Metamask, una cartera que nos descargamos de una plataforma en Internet, de la que tenemos la frase de recuperación y las claves, pero hay un tercero que es quien nos provee del servicio, de la propia aplicación que funciona como cartera. Por último están las carteras online. Aquí entraría la cartera/wallet que se obtiene cuando abres una cuenta en Discord. Imaginen que pueden hacer uso de una caja fuerte de la que no tienen ni la combinación, ni la llave. Si por algún problema le cierran la cuenta en Discord se quedará sin lo que la cartera contenía en ese momento, por lo que es muy recomendable que pase a otra cartera, una tipo a las que les he hablado antes, sus NFTs y evitar posibles disgustos.
