The Community Engagement Challenge this week is about the newly launched (after Tuesday's maintenance) voucher card - Tasoshi Drakamoto. Will she be able to fill Kelan Gaine's shoes and keep draining the daily voucher pool, or will voucher inflation manage to catch up. These are just two of the questions we're going to tackle in this short write-up about this new Drakoshan card.

Now let's have a look at the card itself:

There are 3 different foil options for this promo card as is now the norm with the release of the Conclave Arcana set. We will have a look at how each foil is obtained in the next section. Let's analyze her stats:

Tasoshi Drakamoto is an 8-mana Epic Drakoshan card, member of the Fire element (even though she's related to dragons). At level one she starts with 2 Magic Attack, 3 Speed, 2 Armor and 5 Health, as well as Sneak. So, at this level she's already interesting for Novice/Bronze/Silver, as Magic Sneak attackers are not common at all in Modern league, and there are only a couple of examples of that in the game as a whole. At level two she gains just one additional point in the Speed section of a total of 4. Then at level 3 she gains her 2nd ability - Inspire. Now Inspire, as we know, grants +1 Melee Attack to friendly units, I am not quite sure how often that will be useful when playing Tasoshi, as I would generally probably choose to play her in a more magic heavy line-up, on the other hand Fire does have some heavy Melee hitters (it's always been known for its melee prowess), so throwing her in at Silver level especially in a line-up as a support unit could work really well in some cases. Next at level 4 she gains an additional Magic Attack for a total of 3. Level 4 is pretty important in that aspect for sure. At level 5 she gains her third ability - Stun. Stun could be the best and the worst ability, depending on how lucky you are, since 50% chance to land sometimes means 0%, and other times means 110%. I'm generally not fan on relying on such abilities to make your line-up work but they are definitely welcome when they are available on any of the units. Finally, at level 6, she gains her final ability - Spite and an additional point in the health section. Her stats at level 6 she has 3 Magic Attack, 4 Speed, 2 Armor and 6 HP. Spite is a nice ability (introduced to the game for the first time with Heloise the Hollow), and on a Magic attacker it has a lot higher probability not to miss. Sometimes it could definitely be useful but it's definitely not incredibly impactful as a whole.

Tasoshi Drakomoto is currently available to be bought for 250 Vouchers from the Voucher store, and there is a chance of the card you get to be a GF or a BF. The GF and BF chances can be increased through the use of Alchemy and Midnight potions. Bear in mind that since Tasoshi is an epic card, you will have to use 8 potions of each time for every copy you buy, so plan accordingly.

The Gold Foil Arcane Fortune draw starts on the 12th of August and has the following parameters (quoting from SPL's article):

The Black Foil Arcane Auction begins on the 26th of August and has the following parameters (quoting from SPL's article):

  • Each auction lasts 25 hours

  • Cards awarded from highest mint # to lowest

🔨 Auction Mark Crafting Cost:

So, the 1M DEC question - have I bought the card and if not, am I planning to buy it. No, I've not bought the card yet. It's a nice card but I feel it's not an immediate must-have, so I don't feel like paying a premium on it for the time being. I am definitely not getting it from the shop, and I'll just keep stacking my vouchers in the pool, waiting for the card following this one, as my 1200 vouchers won't get me anywhere anyway, so might as well try to accumulate more and use them next time. The price has gone down on the market to about $4 per copy, so $170-$180 is not that bad, but it can wait for a bit more. I'm sure people will keep hunting for GFs and BFs, and dumping RFs on the market, that's great for those of us who don't need a GF or BF version. Tasoshi is not a bad card but is nowhere near the OP meta level of Kelan Gaines, and I actually think that fine. Yeah, promo cards need to be attractive but I don't really think each promo card the company prints needs to be game-breaking and OP. Having Tasoshi is already an advantage over someone who does not have it for those situations when she would make a difference. She's also a Drakoshan, so that could be useful with the Drakoshan bloodline Archon.

EDIT: I saw a maxed one for $3.58 per CC a couple of hours ago and could not resist the temptation! :D

Well, this is it for now.

Over and Out,
