Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge!

This week's Community Engagement Challenge is a bit more loose in terms of its requirements - you can write about anything you want as long as it's related to Conclave Arcana, so I've decided to showcase one of my favorite combos so far featuring Leolin Sifu.

Now before we get into the stats discussion of Leolin Sifu, let's have a sneak peek into her LORE.

So, Nyamisa is a true martial art master. Hopefully she has someone to watch her back when it comes to magic.

Alright, we've got some idea of who Leolin Sifu is, after glancing at her lore. Let us have a look at her stats and abilities at different key levels now.

Leolin Sifu is a 9-mana Epic Feliform Melee Attacker from the Life element. At level 1 her stats are 3 Melee Attack, 2 Speed, 6 Armor, 8 HP. Her first ability is True Strike. At level 2 she gains her second ability - Relentless Strike . At level 3 She gains her 3rd ability - Swiftness. At level 5 she gains 1 point in the melee attack section for a total of 4. Finally at level 6 she has 4 Melee Attack, 3 Speed, 7 Armor and 10 HP. She also gains her final ability - Execute. Leolin Sifu's kit definitely screams - a true martial artist - however, she's definitely not a tank, so you will need to find ways or rulesets where you can utilize her kit effectively.

  • The line-up of the Battle and the Ruleset:

There are 2 rulesets in this battle - Noxious Fumes (All Units start the battle Poisoned.) and Broken Arrows (Ranged attack Units may not be used in battles.). The mana budget is 50 which is an above-average amount of mana, so the units can be chosen more freely. The available Elements are Earth, Life and Dragon. I'm obviously going to go with the Life Element.

The main tank in this battle is the second part of this 3-part combo - the Silverblade Fighter. At level 1 he has 1 Melee Attack, 3 Speed, 6 Armor and 5 Health and he starts off with Flank (At the beginning of battle, if this Unit is in the first position, the unit in the second position gains Reach) ability which is his signature one. It is, of course, really, really useful if you want to put a Melee Monster without Reach in the off-tank spot. At level 2 he gains a 2nd ability - Void Armor (Magic attacks hit this Monster's armor before its Health) and 1 Health Point for a total of 6. At level 6 he gains his third at final ability - Protect (All friendly Monsters gain +2 Armor). Finally, maxed out at level 8 he has 3 Melee Attack, 4 Speed, 7 Armor and 6 Health.

In the off-tank spot I have placed our protagonist for this battle - Taye. It's no surprise I've placed her here as this is the place she belongs as an off-tank for the combo to work.

In the 3th spot I've got the Grimbardun Smith. He is a 6 Mana card with No Attack, 3 Armor and 10 Health. This definitely is quite telling for its purpose, and if you look at the set of abilities he has, you can definitely tell that he will be a pretty good support card with defensive functions. His skillset includes: Immunity (this monster is immune to negative status effects), Void (reduced damage from Magic attacks), Shield (reduced damage from Melee and Ranged attacks) and Repair (restores some armor to the friendly Monster whose armor has taken the most damage).

In the 4th spot I've got the Meriput Mossmender. She is a dual-element (Earth/Life) unit and at level 1 she starts with 2 Magic Attack, 1 Speed, 1 Armor and 2 Health and the Repair ability. however, a repair unit is not a bad addition for some teams even at level 1 even though at the cost of 6 mana, you probably have better options in your deck. Next at 2 level she gains Dodge. I don't think Dodge does much for her with her 1 Speed and 2 Health apart for the cases when you play her in Reverse Speed. Then at level 44 she gains Cleanse. Level 4 makes her a decent support unit but nothing to write home about, and she still has just 3 Health. Now we jump from level 4 straight to her max level - 8. The stats here are 2 Magic Attack, 1 Speed, 2 Armor, 6 Health but most importantly she gains a Echo which grants her the ability to cast Repair twice each round (as well as abilities that could get added to her kit by an Archon - such as Triage).

5th in the line-up is the Meriput Magician. She's a 5-mana support unit for the Life element. Her most important ability is Tank Heal, I've included her in the line-up to try to counteract anything going terribly wrong at the front. Generally such high armor line-ups should not really need Tank Heal as the units either get sustained by repairs or die miserably.

Last in the line-up I have added Bera Dallin to serve as an initial distraction from our frontline. She is an 11-Mana Legendary card with 3 Melee Attack, 4 Speed, 7 Armor and 14 Health (at max level). She starts off with Armored Strike and Taunt. At level 2 she gains Shield, and at level 4 she gains Void Armor. Even though she is yet another Monster vulnerable to Giant Killer, I want to say that she has a great set of abilities for a main tank. She takes reduced damage versus Melee and Ranged attacks and Magic Attacks also have to go through her Armor first.

It is time for a quick round by round analysis:

The Archon I am going with for the battle is the third part of the puzzle, namely Elias Max Pruitt. I need him not only for the additional Armor he provides but more-so for the Armored Strike/Piercing ability combo he can grant. Of course, I'm going to give this ability combo to Leolin Sifu. Now she becomes a real killing machine - True Strike + Relentless Strike + Execute + Armored Strike + Piercing. You definitely won't be able to see the license plate of this truck after it hits you.

  • After 1 round Leolin Sifu shredded through the Janni Rebel who was attempting to main tank for the enemy team. All other attacks have been directed at the two Bera Dallins at both sides.

  • Round 3 - I've done some work on the ulund in first spot but he's not dead yet. That won't be for too long though.

  • Round 4 - the battles is almost over, I just need to clean up the remainder of the enemy units.

  • Round 5 - just the enemy Bera still standing. Leolin will take care of that.

  • Victory!

Leolin Sifu is an Epic card you should not be sleeping on. She is currently being traded at $2.22 per bcx and I think that this price for her is actually still a good deal.

Over and Out,
