No arms no worries

I've spent the last twelve months having arms and they've come in really useful. They connect my hands to my shoulders, allow me to wear watches on my wrist and I can make them do things that help me day to day in many different ways...But today I had none and I didn't mind at all.
This time last year I went to my first Hivefest and whilst it was a little odd wandering about in AltspaceVR I had a pretty good time which is why I returned this year.
I popped into the virtual environment and attended some talks at the main stage this morning then headed over to the NFT Showroom which is where I grabbed the selfies and images in this post. You'll note I have no arms which is a characteristic of the AltspaceVR world however I virtually didn't care because in the real world my arms are totally intact - How else would I work the computer after all?
In the NFT Showroom I wandered about looking at the artwork which was of a pretty good standard and was pleased to see a few names I'd not known created artwork - It was really great to see some different names and what they created. It was also there I ran into none other than my real-life brother @tarazkp who was having a chat with @molometer about cryptocurrency and hive in general.
I joined in on the chat for a while pretending I knew what they were talking about and added input where I could. It was all a bit odd having a conversation with my brother in this virtual space, but sort of cool also.

There's tarazkp and I standing in the NFT Showroom above. You see how it doesn't look odd when you're in AltspaceVR with no arms? That's because no one has arms. Having said that my brother is looking somewhat dubious in this shot...Look at that face he's pulling...I wonder if he's thinking, where's my fucken arms? In truth I took this selfie without him knowing so maybe he's thinking something else altogether though.
Below you can see my brother and the most awesome, and also armless, @m31 admiring some of the artworks; @m31 is exhibited in the gallery herself with her own work entitled Jellies which you can see in the second image below.

Jellies - By @m31. I like the movement she captured in this piece and the opaqueness of the jellyfish against the black background. I imagine the jellyfish glowing luminous at great depth where the light can't penetrate.

Stripehair - by another friend of mine @insaneworks. I'd say the title is quite apt.

The lady of the dark forest - by @berlissanoja which also appealed to me. This one is a little darker although really reminded me of someone I know and care deeply for.
The virtual environment of the NFT Showroom was really cool this year; it felt like a real gallery to me and the outside environment was stunning with the green trees contrasting against the blue skies and clouds. I'd say it's a good spot for a meet up and chat amongst some really cool artwork.

I haven't had much of a chance to explore many of the other environments yet as I popped in late however plan to drop into Virtual Hivefest 2021 Day Two tomorrow and catch up with some mates and have a chat and also explore around a little and see what I see.
I'd prefer to attend a Hivefest in reality but it's not a possibility right now so this virtual space provides a chance to enjoy some of the benefits without the need for travel and expense. It's somewhat strange but it's well worth the effort to attend.
There's so many people I'd like to meet here and chat with and so many nice virtual environments in which to do so and despite the slightly odd nature it is really quite enjoyable. I hope that those who haven't got involved this year or last will jump on board next year and have some fun with the rest of us who attend.
Now...Bring on day two.

Finnish vs Aussie tan. 😅
Lol, exactly!
For which arms you still have all the fun 😋... thank you very much for appreciating my artwork I feel honored.☺🤗 Muchas gracias.
You're welcome, it is a nice artwork and I like the story behind it. (I read the post you did about it.)
No kidding, I know @molometer. He sure gets around! 😁 Sounds like a cool time.
I just watched him sing a song in his latest post...Pretty cool indeed.
Thank you @galenkp I'm not really a singer as you probably can tell lol
That's besides the point. You have a go at it and that's what matters mate. A great song choice also; I dig that song.
It was a good source of inspiration. It's a great song. Glad you liked it 👍
Thanks for the shout outs @galenkp and @old-guy-photos it was a splendid event. Hopefully we'll get back to real life meetups sometime?
Real life would be real good, but VR is ok at a pinch.
It worked a treat to be honest. So much more convenient to attend a conference with no walking involved! lol its was great fun and good to you.
It worked a treat to be honest. So much more convenient to attend a conference with no walking involved! lol its was great fun and good to meet you both.
I'm off to bed. I'm seeing double? Lol
Hey how are you finding it next to last year? It did my head in last year but I didn't have the headset so maybe that ruined the experience for me.
I always thought you were quite 'armless, you know, despite being a gun toting South Aussie...
The artwork looks fun too - I'm a bit jealous, might pop in to say hi. Wait - I'm always hiving in the arvo here and no one else is awake. Lol.
It's as odd as it was last year but it's all we have and the chance to show off my armless body is always welcome. You looked good with no arms also you know. It won't be much fun without a headset though.
Yeah, and I had the vibe that 'oh, she doesn't have the headset' so people weren't as keen to chat to me, so that made me feel awks.
It's really hard without a headset as the voice feeds back off computer speakers. I was using my phone headset today and it worked fine I think.
Me too, may be we should plan to do in India next, so that we can attend. Virtual events are not very interesting for me, unless, they actually show up the faces and you feel like you talk in front.
I understand although with the travel restrictions, pandemic and financial cost of real-life events it is impossible to make real-world events a possibility. Even if it was possible I'd say that the financial cost alone would prevent many from attending. The virtual reality events are a good compromise.
That is true. Not many people can financially afford to travel to another country. Especially if they need to buy a ticket to the event. I still remember that even the "cheapest" SteemFest ticket was more expensive than my total monthly income at that time.
Greetings from Hungary.
Yes, this is what makes the VR events better and more accessible. Sure, not as fun as real life but it's better than nothing I think.
I'd really love to go to HIVEfest in India!
🤛 I promise to meet you there, if at all it happens.
I would gladly do the same in Hungary.
I saw you wondering in the lobby this morning and was heading to say hello to you but you vanished into the ether, or probably to the NFT showroom. I instead guessed wrong and went to the mainstage and got distracted.
Hey bro, it was nice to talk with you as well. My connection failed and when it eventually started working again, I didn't see you at the spot we were talking.
yeah, I thought you logged out so went to the mainstage.
good talking to you too.
Yeah, I was there to get my name badge then I headed over to the NFT Showroom for a bit. I'll be around tomorrow at some stage.
Cool, will say hello and g'day
I was right behind you when you jumped into the campfire place. My internet has been crappy due to security issues, so I couldn't keep up with you.
You ran straight to the name tag place. I only knew it was you because I randomly clicked on your VR guy and saw your name. I was calling out but didn't also know my microphone was turned off 😑.
It was a confuckulated mess.
I do my best running in the virtual world...I'm pretty fast so it's rare that any one can keep up. In real life though, I'm much slower. Lol.
Your VR dude was sprinting so fast lol. At the end of the show, I stuck around the area, took a selfie around that Splinterlands poster in the main area, and just chilled.
The 2D experience is watered down, and I'd like to experience the 3D stuff another time.
I had on a pair of VR Nike's and they're fast man, superfast.
Yeah I agree the 2D isn't that good but it's better than nothing. I can't justify the cost of VR gogs at this stage so will make do.
How funny is that, men with no arms lol. The whole Hivefest setting doesn't look too shabby. Roaming the virtual world is different but better than nothing hu? Maybe next year I'm able to join. I hope you all at da Hivefest have fun and raise a glass at home since there is no drinking and driving in the virtual world...😄
Don't worry Anna, even with no arms I'd be able to krav maga your ass! Not that I wold of course. Ok, let's be honest here, with no arms I'd be pretty useless in the real world...But in virtual spaces I rock with no arms!
I drank a bottle of scotch before I got there so all good. OK, let's be honest again, I didn't do that at all. I had a coffee though.
Lol, next year I'm joining and we will be the ones drunk at the fest lol. Just kidding, but just to imagine a bunch of folks sitting at home with a VR and getting wasted together sounds a little bit of fun 😄. Either way, nice to see some impressions from that fest.
This will be legit. There's some really cool VR spots to sit and chat so we'll hang out and tell lies. Sound like a plan?
👍 😄
No arms needed in the metaverse!
I was debating going to this one but I still don’t have a great amount of time to do stuff like that just yet. Hopefully next year! It does look pretty cool walking around the area and stuff. Some interesting NFT art there!
Hopefully next year is a real-life event although, considering I'm in Australia, it's unlikely I'll make it...Australia is a lot of kilometres and money away from anywhere and it's unlikely the event will be held here. VR events suit me but nowhere near as good as a live one.
Armless but armed to the hilt. I am glad you are having a great time.
It's all quite odd but unless Hivefest is in Australia it's unlikely I'll get to a live event so I'll make the most of it.
Keep up the good work
Beautiful pieces of Arts, i hope i will be able to make it to the hive fest next year.
The look on your brother face thought.
Yeah, I wonder what he was thinking. I should do a post and just make it up huh?
Hahaha! That should be fun, no doubt I will enjoy reading it.
Looking at the arts, I can only imagine viewing them in reality. They are so wonderful
Yes, wonderful indeed.
You found Stripehair! Awesome. Stripehair also has almost no arms and he's pretty cool so no arms is cool which makes you and everyone else there cool too.
We'll, I am honoured indeed if I could be considered as cool as Stripehair. I fear I am not quite that cool though; let's just say I'm about 23.7% as cool as Stripehair ok?
Wait no. I've seen your pictures. I've stalked you... krmh... read your posts and looked at the pictures. If I remember correctly, you have white stripes in you beard which is cool so that percentage is way off. It should be times ten because you're stripey. So you're 237% cool, okay!
Hmm, ok then well I simply can't fault your logic and yes indeed, I do have stripey white parts in my beard so...Move over Stripehair, there's a new Stripetastic chap in town. 237% is a decent improvement from 23.7% and I can't be anything but pleased. Maybe I'll get up on the stage at Hivefest and make a speech.
Although I'm not in Hivefest... Speech! Speech! Speech! Speech! :)
Lol.
This is an interesting event where people can meet and chat together in the virtual world. Unfortunately, the event time frame is too late in our country. So I can't join. The artwork looks great. I like the work called "The Lady of the Dark Forest." Thanks for sharing about Hivefest.
Yes, the time-zone doesn't work for me either as it is right in the early hours of the morning for me, but I make it work as I find value. Also yes, the artwork was all rather interesting. I'm looking forward to exploring other environments on day two.
I hope you have an interesting discovery trip and reap many new and interesting things.
This is so insanely awesome Galen:
A - that you were able to make a little time to attend the showroom and hivefest
B - that you ran into your actual brother
C - that you got to see some amazing art
D - that it was all with fellow Hive-ians.
BTW - is this the post you were referring me to, or was it your NEXT one about cinnamon coffee, to which I cannot relate as I do not drink coffee.
I concur with A to D. 😊
At last I got to see @m31 NFT and it's a beauty. Good capture @galenkp and you got it with no arms!lol
Lol...Yeah for some reason her NFT was obscured for some; a mystery indeed.
Also, what can I say, anyone whose anyone has no arms...Or did this weekend anyway. 😀
Haha having no arms is trendy it would seem lol

Love the background painting in the first pic xD
I couldnt even figure out how to log in :(
Bummer. Did you register and all?
Yea i did.. i just couldnt even get logged into the VR app... microsoft wanted some pin from me so that i could log in.. and i've never made a pin, and couldnt figure out how to make one... the instructions were soo simple too...
"Settings>Account" thats it..
That sucks. I'll admit it's all a bit clunky although I worked the bugs out ahead of time last year so this year it was all pretty smooth.
Your a pretty smart guy.. it seems to follow, that you'd learn from your mistakes ; )
Yes indeed...Sometimes I repeat them although try to limit that as much as I can. 😀
