Three Months to the Next Soulbound Reward Set

Not quite at the end of the Ranked season at Splinterlands, but it's time to see my progress on maxing out my Rebellion soulbound reward cards. Time is running out too, since the next soulbound reward set has been announced. I'll keep a track of the deadline, even if it might be a little longer than that (Matt said 3-4 months): 3 months minus ~1 week: 16 or 30 Sep?

The remaining time is tight, especially considering the doubles which will increase in number. I already started to burn many of them for the goal of having the set maxed (to a high degree, I think at least one card will be almost impossible to max out: Olivia of the Brook - I have it at level 5 with another 1 BCX copy, and I'll likely stop here, once I max out the remaining epic card I still need besides that, 1 BCX needed there). Likely, I will ignore the Legendary card I still have at level 1 too: Death Ranger.

So, let's see what I did with the Glint this season.

I purchased 6 legendary draws (+1 pulled in chests), 15 epic draws, 74 rare draws, and 118 common draws. I have no Glint left. There are still almost 23 hours left until the end of the season at the time of writing, but I'm writing the update now because tomorrow I have another post scheduled.

That makes it easy to see how much Glint I earned this season (including the season rewards from last season). That makes it a total of 358,200 Glint used for draw purchases this season (+0 remaining in my stash for a total of 358,200). Last season I had a total of 383,800 Glint in purchases. That means I spent 25,600 less Glint this season.

Let's keep a table too, going forward:

Season since New SB SetGlint Used to Purchase DrawsDifference
Season 5363,200
Season 6344,400-18,800 Glint
Season 7352,700+8,300 Glint

Let's see what my current situation of the Rebellion SB set completion progress is so far:

Season 2092 / 2186 / 1094 / 1976 / 2
Season 21 (current)95 / 2291 / 1195 / 1980 / 0

That's +4% to the progress of legendary cards (and -2% to GFL, after burning my GFL), +1% progress to epic cards (and +0% to epic GF), +5% progress to rare cards (and +1% to the rare GF), and 3% progress to the common cards (and +1% to the common GF).

Last season I had 5/7 maxed epics and 2/12 maxed legendary cards, 2/12 maxed common and 4/12 maxed rare cards.

After this season I have 5/7 maxed epics and 3/12 maxed legendary cards, 4/12 maxed common and 4/12 maxed rare cards.

So, the only change in max level status was on legendary cards (+1), and on common cards (+2).

I will continue to push for legendary draws first, epics second (until I max out the one that has 1 missing BCX - Night Reaper; if I pull it, I'll focus on Legendary draws next until I buy all 10 of them), rare 3rd (because they are further from 100% than commons), and commons last (because they are the main beneficiary of cards from chests too).

I already burned a good number of duplicates, but no GF yet except the GFL. After I see if the GF cards are useful in survival or not for the short time I will play there, I decide which of them to burn too.

Here are the "before and after" snapshots for the Rebellion SB legendary cards, which are my current main focus. "Before" first:

2 at level 4 (max level), 9 at level 3, 1 at level 1

And now the current levels of the legendary cards...

My Rebellion SB legendary cards: 3 at level 4 (max level), 8 at level 3, 1 at level 1.

This season, 1 legendary card got upgraded to max level.

Perhaps a more relevant metric is the amount of Glint already spent compared to the total amount needed to max out the SB set (only regulars).

Here' s my situation:

Glint needed for a fully upgraded regular Rebellion SB set, w/o doubles:
8,790,000 Glint

Glint value of the cards collected so far (ignore GF and doubles):
7,749,950 Glint

Progress percentage:
88.17%

Estimated^ time to max out the RF cards (or GF, where possible):
4 more seasons (2 months, i.e. end-August)
^) estimation now includes tier advancement rewards (average last 3 seasons); estimation doesn't account for Glint wasted on pulling doubles of maxed out cards or GF instead of RF (where GF card level isn't high enough)

Last season's Glint value of cards collected: 7,332,650.
Difference: 417,300 Glint-worth of cards this season, including tier advancement rewards.

Yeah, it might be a good move just do the few draws you want to reach a level and then stop and wait for the new set, I'm just gonna save for it

I'm hoping to have a small stash of Glint by that time, but we'll see.

I agree that it might be good to save glint if you don't need a specific level on cards. However, with your Glint earnings, I think you can probably get close to maxing out most of the cards before it ends. If push comes to it, you do have some gold foils that you could burn if you don't plan to use them.

I will likely get maxed most of the cards, but there are some stubborn ones, that for some reason don't get pulled often and it would make no sense to burn through Glint only for the illusory hope of getting those maxed. I'd better mark them as "stubborn", get the highest reasonable level for them, and move on. And save some Glint at the end, if possible.

When you intend to play the game long-term then you'll surely be concerned about not maxing them out. I think maybe only 2 to 3% of players are the only ones who will max out their complete set, and probably not more than than. For me, it doesn't really matter, as I might have to stop playing very soon

It's funny you say that. Some say they have a complete set and had it for a long time, and then, when they go into details, they say, I'm still missing a BCX here, a BCX there, and so on. That's not a max set. I say it how it is. I will likely not have a complete set, due to RNG, and because it's not worth spending/wasting so much Glint to max the cards that are less favored by RNG.

For me, it doesn't really matter, as I might have to stop playing very soon

That's understandable given your likely lack of time these days. If a bot is not a suitable solution for you, either in Wild or in Survival, then you should figure out what next... Let know know if you stop playing so I can pull the SPS delegation away.

Yeah I might be very wrong as well. However I think not a lot of players have the staked SPS, long-term to actually make that much money to have a maxed deck. I think the numbers are dwindling, again, I might be wrong.

That, as well as the fact that it's just becoming too expensive to play in wild without the earned SPS to keep paying

Yes, but the players I am talking about complain they have completed the set long time ago and they nothing to do with Glint anymore. So... they have lots of them. It isn't the case with the majority of players, but they do have enough Glint, by the looks of it.

That, as well as the fact that it's just becoming too expensive to play in wild without the earned SPS to keep paying

Yeah, the Wild pass pretty much makes it prohibitive for players in lower leagues to play and be on the positive side.

In my case, my plan was to max out both common and rare rebellion cards that I have. As for Epic, that's too expensive for me. I would rather use the GLINT to buy merits and shift my focus to leveling up Gladius cards.

Yep, Gladius is another set that is far from being maxed for me. And I know others who maxed them several times on different accounts. But I guess it depends on what Guild you are and how overpowered it is and so their Guild rewards.

Wow! Maxed several times. They were the earliest players on Splinterlands.

Yep, I've seen some of those guilds built up to max in a matter of months in the beginning.
