Rebellion Soulbound Reward Set: 5 Epic Duplicates in One Season! 🙁

avatar

We are a few hours before the end of the ranked play season at Splinterlands, and it's time to see my progress on maxing out my Rebellion soulbound reward cards.

Pretty good season on the Wild/Glint side of things for me. I was able to purchase all 1st batches draws with the Glint earned (except legendary ones), and briefly reached Champ 2 after a while, but that gave me access to the Champ 2 tier advancement rewards. Too bad they sucked! Major time. I only got like 3-4 card rewards, only one of them rare. Mostly merits and some energy... if you can believe it.

It is true I pulled some nice card rewards in previous seasons from tier advancement chests.

So, let's see what I did with the Glint this season.

I had no Glint to purchase more legendary draws this time around, but I was able to buy all 25 epic draws, all 100 rare draws, and 400 common draws. I still have 6,754 Glint remaining.

That makes it easy to see how much Glint I earned this season (including the season rewards from last season). That makes it a total of 322,500 Glint used for draw purchases this season (+6,754 remaining in my stash for a total of 329,254). Last season I had a total of 295,200 Glint in purchases. That means I spent 34,054 more Glint this season.

Let's keep a table too, going forward:

Season since New SB SetGlint Used to Purchase DrawsDifference
Season 5363,200
Season 6344,400-18,800 Glint
Season 7352,700+8,300 Glint
Season 8341,850-10,850 Glint
Season 9328,100-13,750 Glint
Season 10427,500+99,400 Glint
Season 11462,500+35,000 Glint
Season 12322,500-140,000 Glint
Season 13305,550-16,950 Glint
Season 14314,100+8,550 Glint
Season 15322,500+8,400 Glint
Season 16295,200-27,300 Glint
Season 17 (current)322,500+27,300 Glint
Last 3 seasons' average313,400

Let's see what my current situation of the Rebellion SB set completion progress is so far:

Season since New SB SetCommons %Rares %Epics %Legendaries %
Season 11 / 02 / 08 / 09 / 0
Season 22 / 12 / 09 / 017 / 0
Season 33 / 12 / 010 / 023 / 0
Season 45 / 23 / 112 / 027 / 0
Season 57 / 24 / 213 / 036 / 0
Season 68 / 35 / 215 / 042 / 0
Season 79 / 36 / 215 / 051 / 0
Season 810 / 37 / 217 / 058 / 0
Season 910 / 37 / 224 / 161 / 0
Season 1019 / 514 / 431 / 463 / 0
Season 1128 / 622 / 439 / 665 / 0
Season 1237 / 829 / 547 / 965 / 0
Season 1344 / 937 / 554 / 1167 / 0
Season 1452 / 1145 / 562 / 1167 / 0
Season 1561 / 1353 / 570 / 1367 / 0
Season 1666 / 1461 / 679 / 1467 / 0
Season 17 (current)75 / 1770 / 885 / 1667 / 0

That's +0% to the progress of legendary cards, +6% progress to epic cards (and +2% to epic GF), +9% progress to rare cards (and +2% to the rare GF), and only 9% progress to the common cards (and +3% to the common GF).

Nice progress on commons this time, unlike previous times. Epics, despite buying all of the draws, I pulled 5 doubles of the card I already had maxed! 😮🙁 That's unlucky! I still don't have any maxed common or rare cards, but I have multiple common cards at level 9 and multiple rare cards at level 7. Very likely next season I will maxed out one of them.

Last week I said:

Hard to change the strategy from epic 1st, rare 2nd, common 3rd, legendary 4th, right now, even if I now have a maxed epic card and the pretty high risk of getting a double there. I couldn't start with legendaries, since I have 2 maxed cards for that rarity, so the risk is still higher there to pull a double. I could consider starting with rare and common first, and continuing with epic next, since I don't have any doubles there yet, but I do normally receive more common and rare cards from tier advancement chests, so I think I'll keep the same strategy for now. If I get 2 maxed epic cards however, I'll have to change something.

Although I have the same opinion, it turned out the game of chances played me a trick with those 5 doubles on epics.

So, the strategy still remains epic first, rare second, common third, legendary forth, until I max out another epic or 2 common or 2 rare cards.

Here are the "before and after" snapshots for the Rebellion SB epic cards, which are my current main focus. "Before" first:

1 at level 6 (max level), 5 at level 5, 1 at level 4

And now the current levels of the epic cards...

My Rebellion SB epic cards: 1 at level 6 (max level), 5 at level 5, 1 at level 4.

This season, there was no change in the levels of the epic cards I have. I liked that I pulled a few Olivias, the one card I have at level 4.

Perhaps a more relevant metric is the amount of Glint already spent compared to the total amount needed to max out the SB set (only regulars).

Here' s my situation:

Glint needed for a fully upgraded regular Rebellion SB set, w/o doubles:
8,790,000 Glint

Glint value of the cards collected so far (ignore GF and doubles):
6,427,600 Glint

Progress percentage:
73.12%

Estimated^ time to max out the RF cards (or GF, where possible):
8 more seasons (4 months, i.e. end-August)
^) estimation now includes tier advancement rewards (average last 3 seasons); estimation doesn't account for Glint wasted on pulling doubles of maxed out cards or GF instead of RF (where GF card level isn't high enough)

Last season's Glint value of cards collected: 6,129,100.
Difference: 298,500 Glint-worth of cards this season, including tier advancement rewards.

Season since New SB SetGlint-Worth of Cards (including Tier Advancement Rewards)Difference
Season 7414,550-

Season 9328,850-39,550 Glint

Fortunately there should be a few months left until we get new Conclave Arcana Reward Cards. The team has their hands full at the moment. Once we start seeing more players around, we should also see the supply for the new Reward Cards increase. That could help to sell your doubles at a profit.

That could help to sell your doubles at a profit.

That would mean to unlock them... I doubt that has been profitable in many cases. Plus, if I had this intention, I should have unlocked them early, much cheaper. In my case, I have two options, in my opinion: 1. use them in survival mode 2. burn them for Glint

I pulled a decent number of GFs, if that's what you mean, lol, for all rarities (epic, rare, common). You can see that in the second table, where the second number for each rarity represents the GF set completion percentage.

Hmm I was checking the screenshot with the level of cards

That doesn't say much if the card doesn't level up. Plus, it is for epics only.

Epics from this lot are really awesome. Infact they outshine legendaries..

They are indeed very powerful, to compensate for their debilities.

I think you're doing an upgrade of both standard and gold foil for epics cards isn't it? So you might spend more time and Glint trying to max out that set, but it'll still take three, maybe four months if not more for conclave soulbound cards. But your epic collection is something to die for.

I do upgrade both that's true, but if the timeline for the last soulbound set is any indication, the last part will be the hardest because of all the duplicates, and my current prediction to complete the set by end of August could very well extend into the fall due to that reason, so it's going to be close. Last time I had to burn most of the duplicates (except those that I eventually maxed out as GF as well), to be able to almost complete the set (missing 2 BCXs).

I want the set completed, that's sure. If I can max some GFs in the process, I'd love to.

That'll be sweet, because GFs means more SPS per win in ranked battles. How about Legendaries? Have you gotten any legendary GFs?

Not yet. But I haven't purchased any legendary draws either for a good while either.

It's too bad about the epics, but that is still nice progress on your cards. I won't come anywhere close to maxing out the cards, and I haven't heard anything about new reward cards, so you have plenty of time.

Yes, hopefully, there will be enough time. But last one I... almost completed it too. Missed two BCXs on legendary cards. I want to complete it this time, and also I want to save some Glint for the next one.

Next season I'll switch... I maxed another epic. I'll to push a bit on the legendaries front.
