52-Week HBD Savings Challenge -> HBD Savings Bull Market End Goal: 5,000 HBD
This will be the last week for my 52-week HBD Savings challenge, which I'll morph into something else. More about this at the end, until then the details of the last week I pursued this challenge.
We are in the 33rd week of the 52-week HBD challenge. That means I added 33 HBD to the savings for this particular goal, and reached 561 HBD, without counting the accrued interest.
Total HBD remaining to add to complete this challenge (broken down into increasing weekly targets): 817 HBD.
Already added (without counting the accrued interest): 561 HBD.
Status of this challenge: STOPPED and REPLACED with "HBD Savings Bull Market End Goal" going forward.
This is the final amount in savings at the end of this goal:
While I initially wanted to continue this challenge, it is too inflexible and I would have soon needed to sell volatile assets to continue it, which simply doesn't make sense at these prices.
Therefore, I introduce my first multi-annual goal, which surprisingly isn't about HIVE Power, but about HBD, given the expected cyclicity of the market.
It won't be a goal with an expected deadline based on the calendar, but rather on how the market moves. My expectations are to have 5,000 HBD in savings (I might adjust this) at the end of the bull market (or sooner if I am too anxious), with the plan to turn those back into more HP at some point during the next cycle.
This won't be a goal with linear progression every week. I expect little to no progress while HIVE is going up other than interest in the savings account, and significant progress, all at once, at increasing price points of HIVE.
I might even use some of the HBD at times, if needed, to pay for various stuff. So I won't hold myself to a continuous growing stash of HBD if situations require a different approach.
Other than that, what I said in the past remains in my mind. It is important, I'd say even critical (from my point of view), to hold some HBD in savings or liquid, and that will remain one of my most important focuses: to never deplete my HBD/stable holdings, regardless of "opportunities".
Posting & Commenting Goal
I haven't missed a daily post this year yet. Reached 1879 posts published, with 126 left to hit the target in 2024. That puts the progress at 64% where 61.54% was needed to be in the green.
Here's the situation so far:
I haven't missed any edition of Week through Adrian's Lenses in 2024 either, and I mention this since it's also part of my posting goal. Overall, I reached the 83rd edition of the weekly roundup which debuted at the beginning of 2023.
I also started the week with 19,872 comments made. Ended the week with 19942 which means I made 70 comments last week, which is way below the weekly average needed to reach the comments target by the end of the year.
I currently need an average of 103 comments weekly to reach the comments target by the end of the year.
LEO Staked
My LEO stake remained at 24,400 LP, with 3k delegated to one of the winners of the LPUD prizes. I'm keeping LEO liquid for LPUD which will come in a few days.
Here's the current situation:
If I participate in the future LPUDs as before, with 200 LEO power-ups, and nothing else staked throughout the months, this goal should be completed in October.
Splinterlands: Increase Grain PP to 400,000
Goal started in week 19.
What's the progress so far?
Started previous week at 355,314 PP. Today's number is 357,615 PP. That's +2,301 PP, which is below my needed average. I need +2388 PP weekly to complete this goal until mid-December (my deadline is end of year, but I chose mid-December to push myself a bit).
The major bottleneck for me here is and has always been for land staked DEC.
Land Plots Unlocked - Completed
Goal completed in Week 18, with the following situation at the time:
73 plots were productive and 27 were still under construction.
Currently, 99 plots are productive out of 100, with 1 still under construction (still clearing). Two plots became productive this week.
ZING Multiplier - Completed
Goal completed in week 10 with 25,203 ZING.
Since then, I slowly grew my stash from staking rewards only. Waiting for sales.
My ZING holdings are now at 27,371.
This was the final situation when the goal was achieved, I won't keep updating it:

Forgive my laziness, when is the 52nd week of your challenges completing? Do you have a HBD target for the end of 52 weeks?
I... stopped it in week 33 and replaced it with a end of bull market goal. It was too inflexible, in a time where I couldn't afford to sell volatile assets to keep it going. So I stopped it as I approached that threshold where I had to choose to continue it by selling volatile assets at these prices.
Instead, the new goal, while also HBD-based, is more flexible, and allows me to take advantage of market fluctuations on the medium term.
That's a wise choice. For me, considering HBD is still stable, and the bull run is months away, I think there's a lot of "if" everywhere.
Good job, my friend
I have already reached 100HP
I’m glad!!!
Good job to you too! Keep going!
Nice progress! Now that the interest on HBD is 15% has that changed your HBD goal at all? I know everything has "wiggle" room for changes in the crypto world.
That Leo stack is looking really good!
It changed in the sense that I replaced my 52-week HBD challenge with a different HBD-based goal, which won't end at the end of of this year, but most likely around the end of 2026.
It's changed quite a few people's strategy. I never had a set HBD goal because I've been focusing more on HP for the time being. I'm not sure how long the interest rate can even stay at 15, it may have to be cut down some more for long term stability.
Yes, we might see a drop in the interest again. But I still believe a stash of HBD is important. And toward the end of the bull market, it will be my focus, for sure.

I think pausing the HBD goal seems like a decent choice. With Hive price down, we get less HBD and the witnesses also changed the HBD interest rate so it's not as attractive too.
The most problematic situation continuing the 52-week challenge in the current market conditions would have been the increasing requirements of HBD deposits weekly, while I was about to run out of reserves. Which would have meant I needed to sell HIVE or HIVE-based tokens/assets into HBD, and at these prices, this was a dumb choice. So I had to let it go.
