Maxing Out Rebellion Soulbound Set: Slow Grind with LOTS of Duplicates

We are close to the end of the Ranked season at Splinterlands, and it's time to see my progress on maxing out my Rebellion soulbound reward cards.

It's the second time I write this journaling kind of post, this time in a different front end, hopefully more successfully. Luckily, the calculations didn't get lost with the post (and the draft)...

Many duplicates this season. For example, only 1 in 15 epic draws is "useful" for my progress, all the rest are duplicates of already maxed cards.

So, let's see what I did with the Glint this season.

I purchased 5 legendary draws, 15 epic draws, 100 rare draws, and 142 common draws. I have no Glint left.

That makes it easy to see how much Glint I earned this season (including the season rewards from last season). That makes it a total of 383,800 Glint used for draw purchases this season (+0 remaining in my stash for a total of 383,800). Last season I had a total of 367,850 Glint in purchases. That means I spent 15,950 more Glint this season.

Let's keep a table too, going forward:

Season since New SB SetGlint Used to Purchase DrawsDifference
Season 5363,200
Season 6344,400-18,800 Glint
Season 7352,700+8,300 Glint

Season 20 (current)383,800+15,950 Glint

Let's see what my current situation of the Rebellion SB set completion progress is so far:

Season 1989 / 2081 / 993 / 1973 / 0
Season 20 (current)92 / 2186 / 1094 / 1976 / 2

That's +3% to the progress of legendary cards (and +2% to GFL, after my first one in the current soulbound set), +1% progress to epic cards (and +2% to epic GF), +5% progress to rare cards (and +1% to the rare GF), and 3% progress to the common cards (and +1% to the common GF).

I now have 5/7 maxed out epics and 2/12 maxed out legendary cards. I also have 2/12 maxed common and 4/12 maxed rare cards now.

I will continue to push for legendary draws first, epics second (because maxing out the last two ones will be difficult), rare 3rd (because they are further from 100% than commons despite having more maxed cards), and commons last (because they are the main beneficiary of cards from chests too).

I will likely start burning some of the duplicates for Glint to speed up the progress, because we don't know how much time is left, and the number of batch 1 draws is limited every season.

Here are the "before and after" snapshots for the Rebellion SB legendary cards, which are my current main focus. "Before" first:

2 at level 4 (max level), 9 at level 3, 1 at level 1

And now the current levels of the legendary cards...

image.png

My Rebellion SB legendary cards: 2 at level 4 (max level), 9 at level 3, 1 at level 1.

This season, no legendary card got upgraded.

Perhaps a more relevant metric is the amount of Glint already spent compared to the total amount needed to max out the SB set (only regulars).

Here' s my situation:

Glint needed for a fully upgraded regular Rebellion SB set, w/o doubles:
8,790,000 Glint

Glint value of the cards collected so far (ignore GF and doubles):
7,332,650 Glint

Progress percentage:
83.42%

Estimated^ time to max out the RF cards (or GF, where possible):
5 more seasons (2.5 months, i.e. end-August)
^) estimation now includes tier advancement rewards (average last 3 seasons); estimation doesn't account for Glint wasted on pulling doubles of maxed out cards or GF instead of RF (where GF card level isn't high enough)

Last season's Glint value of cards collected: 7,105,800.
Difference: 226,850 Glint-worth of cards this season, including tier advancement rewards.

Season since New SB SetGlint-Worth of Cards (including Tier Advancement Rewards)Difference
Season 7414,550-
Season 8368,400-46,150 Glint
Season 9328,850-39,550 Glint
Season 10388,350+59,700 Glint
Season 11446,250+57,900 Glint
Season 12330,600-115,650 Glint
Season 13407,400+76,800 Glint
Season 14344,400-63,000 Glint
Season 15352,050+7,650 Glint
Season 16323,250-28,800 Glint
Season 17298,500-24,750 Glint
Season 18302,400+3,900 Glint
Season 19375,800+73,400 Glint
Season 20(current)226,850-148,950 Glint
Last 3 seasons' average301,683

The progress this season has dropped to a snail's pace due to duplicates. If it continues like that, I'll be collecting these cards well into the fall, if they don't switch the sets.

I don't play SPS but I think 83+% of progress percentage is not bad. It's good you earned fair rewards this season from SPS, you deserve it because of your dedication to the game. Best of luck playing!

Yeah, but you know progress bars during installations how they go at different speeds? It goes really fast for a while and then it hits a bottleneck where you think it froze at a certain percentage... Well, this is how this progress toward maxing out this soulbound set (or any, on the same principle) will be toward the end.

i got like 300k glint sitting there for nothing, using only foundation cards level 1 is enough

I reached Max Level for Frigid Wolf today. The others will take long before they reach Level 4. I make around 250,000 Glint in a Season.

Yeah, I usually make more Glint per season, but that doesn't help much if I pull lots of duplicates. The last mile of maxing out the set will be difficult.

As long as there is more time for Conclave Arcana Reward Cards, we should be fine.

We probably won't have enough warning time. I remember for the previous set I purchased some batch 2 draws at the end too, hoping to max out the 2 remaining cards... But nope, I couldn't.

I still think you are doing quite good on those cards. It sucks to see the duplicates, but are you worried about the gold foils? If you don't want to keep them, changing them into Glint could help you. But I guess you could wait for the next reward set to come out before doing so.

No... Those generally pay for themselves, particularly the GFL (which I turned into Glint already). What I don't like is having regular duplicates of the cards already maxed out. I will probably not play enough Survival mode to make them useful there, and that's wasted Glint.

Time goes by and the closer to the end of the Rebellion soulbound set we get, the lower the chances to max out the remaining cards, since we have a limited number of draws at batch 1 every season, and the more duplicates I pull the more chances I waste.
