Weekly HSBI Giveaway for the Splinterlands Community #14

HSBI Titelbild.png

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to the my weekly HSBI giveaway for the Splinterlands community!

After the last few weeks have been full of news from Splinterlands, the last week has been a little quieter apart from a few smaller news pieces. What has been announced are the Scholar Showcase Tournaments. These are tournaments in which all cards will be available even if you don't own them. The aim is to highlight talented Scholars who are delegated a deck by players with a large number of cards to play with in ranked mode. The Scholars then have to give a portion of their rewards to the owners of the cards. The concept has been around for a long time, but not with the tournaments announced by the Splinterlands team. Other than that, I had a lot of time last week to test out the new Modern meta with Rebellion and Conclave Arcana. I'm starting to understand which cards and combinations work well. Maybe I'll write an extra blog about it this week.

Answers to the last Question:

Last week's question was "Which Conclave Arcana card do you like the most so far?". This time, 7 people took part and answered the question. Let's have a look at some of your answers.

@doombot75:

Lucky longshot is my fave so far teaming him up with the weapons trainable gnomes is great fun

Lucky Longshot also caught my eye immediately when the card was released. For only three mana you get a card with the powerful ability Weapons Training and then Lucky Lonshot not only has one attack type that he can pass on, but magic and ranged attack. I think that's pretty strong, especially considering that Moxian Rebel was/is played a lot for four mana and with only one attack type. I haven't played Lucky Longshot myself, but as I said before, I think the card is pretty strong.

@beelzael:

The funniest is definitely Tay Loreswift. I mean, how much more allusive can you get with abilities? Reach, Inspire, Snare and Piercing? I laughed hard the first time I saw the card, and still chuckle now that I write it down. And it's super useful, too!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. 😃 This card is a meme and I think it's great that the developers have included a card like this. I also laughed out loud when I saw it for the first time. And apart from that, I don't think the card is bad in terms of gameplay either.

@h4rr1s:

Looking at gameplay and mechanics my favourite is probably Abyssal Elemental. I really like the Resurgence ability. It turns the card into a decent tank.

The Resurgence ability is also pretty strong in my opinion. And I also think Abyssal Elemental is a good card, the ability makes the card a really strong tank, as you described. And I don't think six mana for the card is a lot, especially when you look at the stats.

@artofkylin:

The promo card Arcane skinwalker. Not only is it a pretty good card, it's ablity to be in whatever bloodline is amazing. I was ridiculously lucky and got a gold one as a reward for buying packs. :D

The fact that Arcane Skinwalker is a neutral card and gains the ability Shapeshift from the second level onwards makes it really quite strong and, above all, makes it incredibly versatile. I only own one copy of the card, but will probably buy more in the near future. Congratulations on getting a Gold Foil, really good!

I have to say that I haven't really been able to test the new Conclave Arcana cards yet, so it's hard for me to name my current favorite card from the expansion. The ones you mentioned are definitely high on the list. But if I had to name one card, it would be Bren Palesworn and there are several reasons for that. Similar to Arcane Skinwalker, it's a neutral card and has the ability Shapeshift, which makes it incredibly versatile. It's also a Sneak attacker, so it has an ability that I love to play. And then there's the fact that Bren Palesworn has two attack types with ranged attack and melee attack and gains the Weapons Training ability at the second level. In other words, a very strong combination. Unfortunately, the card is not exactly cheap at around 15$ and I find it a bit difficult to spend so much money on three copies.

And the Winner is...

It's time to draw the winner of the last giveaway.

Buy as many as I can for the SPS I have staked, and then try to get some more on the free market. I hope that the whales buy way too many, and sell them for a good price :-D

What is your strategy for buying Yaba's Pickle?

I didn't have enough sps stakes sooo maybe see what the secondary looks like later. I also really don't understand the obsession with pickles everywhere. But maybe that's cause I don't like them as a food.

I think the main strategy is to stake as many SPS as possible

I'll just buy the regular versions as much as I can, likely around 250 and I'll have to see how I get the rest.

I wrote a post on Getting my hands on Yaba’s Pickle earlier this week but my approach will be buy 60 (max with my current SPS if the snapshot comes soon) and then aim for 40 raffle tickets, assuming I don’t get a black foil or Gold Foil Arcane early in the raffle, that gets me to around where my Archons are levelled to at the moment

Since I don't have too much SPS staked at the moment I'll probably just buy as many as I can.
I'm not planning on staking more SPS to get additional copies, though, since I don't really have any idea what to expect in terms market prices for it after the event.

My strategy, as someone who discovered Splinterlands at the beginning of the year and only has ~300 SPS staked so far, is to hope that the secondary market price isn't too high.
First priority though is building up my deck now that the new card set release has pushed almost all of my good cards out of Modern...

I will buy what my sps stake allows me to. Then wait a good while till the hype wears off and we can see the true price of the card settle in and buy some more then.

I will try to stake more SPS. This card will surely be very useful.
Please add me for the draw - @middle-earthling
