Hello Splinterlandians,

today I want to continue my blog series "In The Spotlight", where I explain you all the important stuff about one single card. I will talk about lore and artwork, the stats, the combinations and tactics and I'll show you a battle with the card as an example.

For today I want to talk about Ravenhood Warden, which was introduced with the souldbound reward cards some weeks ago. It is a rare card from the death splinter, which main task is to support your other monsters. But let's jump into the details and don't waste time, have fun while reading and thanks in advance for every sort of support.

Lore and Artwork:

The Ravenhood are an unkindness of ravenfolk that live in the Fenmoor Basin in Praetoria’s Shimmering Coasts and they are loyal followers of Nestal, Goddess of Vengeance, Pestilence, and Disease. The Ravenhood are fiercely territorial, and their Wardens serve as guardians of their land and people. Ravenhood Wardens patrol the forests, plains, and swamps on the outskirts of their settlements. They also enforce the laws of the Ravenhood and keep the peace. And when outsiders commit offenses against the Ravenhood (whether the offense be violent, moral, social, or simply displeasing), it is the Ravenhood Wardens who dispense vengeance.

Stats:

With the cost of 4 Mana, the Ravenhood Warden is categorized in the low and mid mana section. With its range attack and low health points you should play it in your backline. Here it can plays his strenghts with its supportive abilities, like Protect and Inspire. On the last level it gains the ability Fury, which is nice to have but not a must. All in all it is a support card, which operates best in the back line.

Combinations and Tactics:

  • You can play Ravenhood Warden with nearly every summoner, it doesn't really matter, because most of the death summoners debuff the enemy linup and don't influence yours.
  • Place Ravendhood Warden in your backline, so it can support your monster as long as possible.
  • When you anticipate your opponent to play with some melee or ranged attackers, Ravenhood Warden could be a good alternative with its Protect ability.
  • Logically Lost Magic and Weak Magic is a great ruleset for Ravenhood Warden. Another usecase for it could be in the Earthquake or Little League ruleset.
  • Pair it with melee monsters, if you have it on the fifth level.

Battle:

In my battle I used Ravenhood Warden in the last but one spot. The Fog Of War ruleset was active, so the first four monster, and Ravendhood Warden itself, can take advantage of the two extra armour. On top of that with the Holy Protection ruleset, the enemies monsters first have to destroy the divine shield, then the two armour points and only then they can decrease the health points (except magic attackers).

My opponent decided to play a very similiar lineup to mine, but he didn't play Ravenhood Warden. All in all it made the difference, because my monsters had the extra armour points and I took the win.

Final Words:

Ravenhood Warden is a very similar card to the Venari Wavesmith, which has a good use rate. With a discount of one Mana Ravenhood Warden is a really good card, too, especially because most of the death monsters don't have any armour.

Its Artwork looks great and lore is nice, too, but honestly I can't imagine why a card with that artwork and lore should have the Protect ability. It doesn't really fit together, but that is my only negative point on the card.

What do you think about Ravenhood Warden? Thanks for reading and have some nice days!
