Splinterlands Art Contest 342 - Tortisian Fighter Wood carved necklace Fan Art [ENG-ESP]

Hello dear Jewelry friends, I hope you are all doing well. First of all, I want to thank this community for always supporting me and for mentioning my previous work in the last post of the week. I do this with great pleasure. To my artist friends who always participate in the Splinterlands art contest, I want to share this week's post with you. I made a necklace carved in pine wood of the Tortisian Fighter card, a turtle warrior that looks very powerful. I made it as a decorative necklace in pine wood, which is very pretty. I hope you like it.

Hola queridos amigos de Jewelry, espero que se encuentren muy bien, antes que nada quiero agradecer a esta comunidad por siempre apoyarme y haber mencionado en la última publicación de la semana por mi trabajo anterior, lo hago con mucho gusto. A mis amigos artistas que siempre participan en el concurso de arte de Splinterlands quiero compartir con ustedes mi publicación de esta semana, he realizado un collar tallado en madera de pino de la carta Tortisian Fighter, un guerrero tortuga que luce muy poderoso, lo he realizado como un collar decorativo en madera de pino la cual es muy bonita, espero que les guste.

PROCESS

The pine wood I cut to make the necklace measures 5 centimeters long by 3 centimeters wide. I cut it to a size where the shape could be clearly seen. After cutting and cleaning it, I drew the turtle-shaped pattern on the wood, highlighting its shell.

La madera de pino que he recortado para hacer el collar mide 5 centímetros de largo por 3 centímetros de ancho, la corté de un tamaño donde la figura se pueda apreciar bien. Luego de cortarla y limpiarla fui haciendo el dibujo encima de la madera con la forma de una tortuga donde resalta el caparazón.

I used several cutting tools, but since I started at the edges, I used a box cutter to remove the wood along the lines of the drawing, starting with the front, including the head. I did this little by little until I was sure this part would come out and thus see how the piece would turn out.

Utilicé varias herramientas de corte, pero como comencé por los bordes, utilicé en ese caso un cúter para quitar la madera, a través del trazo del dibujo, empezando en primer lugar por la parte delantera, incluyendo la cabeza. Poco a poco lo fui haciendo hasta asegurarme que esta parte fuera saliendo y así ver como iría quedando la pieza.

Then, with the gouges, I shaped the cuts I had made previously, especially on the head. I removed and shaped it, but I was careful with how I inserted the blade so that the wood wouldn't be damaged. Sometimes, when the cuts are very small, the wood is more fragile.

Después con las gubias fui dando forma en los cortes que había hecho anteriormente, especialmente en la cabeza, la fui sacando y dando forma pero cuidando un poco la forma de introducir la hojilla para que la madera no se estropeara, a veces cuando los cortes son muy pequeños la madera es más frágil.

Continuing with the cuts, I also modeled the legs, since the figure I made for the necklace is of a turtle. Following the outline, I carved that part very carefully, as it's at the end and can easily break. Little by little, I also made the hind legs, and you can see how the figure was coming together.

Siguiendo con los cortes también fui modelando las patitas, ya que la figura que he realizado para el collar es de una tortuga, así siguiendo el trazo fui tallando esa parte también con mucho cuidado, ya que al estar en el extremo le es muy fácil romperse. Poco a poco también fui haciendo las extremidades traseras y así pueden ver como ya iba saliendo la figura.

Then I gradually formed the entire shell. The experience of having made circular pieces before helped me a lot, because I could easily calculate how to do it. I cut, carved, and sanded the piece until I had that rounded shape. I also used one of the gouges to shape the edge of the shell.

Luego fui formando poco a poco todo el caparazón, aquí la experiencia de haber hecho piezas circulares anteriores, me sirvió mucho, porque pude calcular con facilidad como lo iba hacer. Iba cortando, tallando y lijando la pieza hasta darle esa forma redondeada. También con una de las gubias fui haciendo el borde del caparazón.

Using very fine-grit sandpaper, I began sanding the entire piece, especially the shell, until it was clean and shiny. Then I did the part I liked most, the hexagons found on turtle shells. With one of the gouges, I made straight cuts until I extracted the hexagons. I think this is the most attractive aspect of this piece. Then I added a hook for the necklace and finally, I varnished it to cure the wood, and that's how it was finished.

Con una lija de grano muy fino comencé a lijar toda la pieza, especialmente el caparazón hasta dejarlo limpio y reluciente. Luego hice la parte que más me gustó, y son los hexágonos que tienen los caparazones de tortuga, con una de las gubias fuí haciendo cortes en línea recta hasta ir sacando los hexágonos, creo que es lo más atrectivo de esta pieza. Después coloqué un gancho para el collar y por último le di un baño de barníz para curar la madera y así quedó finalizado.

What did you think of the final result? The pine wood after varnishing is simply gorgeous. I think the Tortisian Fighter figure turned out very well, just as I had envisioned when cutting the wood; it looks like a necklace. Que les ha parecido el resultado final? La madera de pino luego del barniz queda demasiado hermosa. Pienso que la figura de Tortisian Fighter ha quedado muy bien, tal como lo habia visualizado al cortar la madera, quedó como todo un collar.
