All You Need To Know About PsyberX Before Buying Starter Kits
PsyberX is an upcoming cyberpunk-themed battle royale game built on our very own Hive Blockchain. It is being developed by Royal Reptile Studios located in California, USA. There are 4 core team members - Justin M. (CEO/Founder), Ehtisham Abbas (CTO), Marian (Art & Animation Expert, Director), and Hasham (Head of Development). Apart from this, they work with other freelancers and artists as per requirement. Please note, that this game has been fully funded by an undisclosed VC based out of California as well. It describes itself with these four attributes:
- FPS (First Person Shooter)
- P2E (Play To Earn)
- MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online)
- RPG (Role Playing Game)
I think they have mentioned earlier on their discord server that it's free to play but clearly, it's not. Although the barrier to entry will be quite low as compared to other games in the P2E industry where you need to spend around $500 or more even before you get to play. This was confirmed in the last AMA session with the team. The game will be developed in phases and Phase-1 will start soon for everyone to try.
Starter Kit NFT Sale
A founder starter kit NFT sale will be launched on Friday, 25th Feb. at 12pm PST. Right now the price of Hive is low, so you can buy the kit with 100 HIVE. Alternatively, you can get it for 100 HBD or 250 USDT in any other mode of payment. Please check out the announcement post for more details on how to buy.
Each kit will be loaded with three Special Edition NFTs:
- ALPHA Land Plot: They will be used to setup a 'mining supplies' shop that sells mining equipment to goldminers or you can sell weapons and more. You will need LAND to do all those things! Later on, commercial plots (larger size) will be released which will be limited in quantity.
- Juggernaut Perk: This NFT can be used in Battles. It comes with power - 30% reduction in Damage for 15 seconds. It recharges every 90 seconds after one use. You can either play or rent/sell on the market.
- No Remorse Perk: No Damage for 3 seconds during the battles.
NOTE: Prices will revise when the marketplace launches or 10K starter kits are sold, whichever comes earlier.
LVL Token
LVL is the in-game currency for PsyberX. There are only 500m total tokens out of which very few are in circulation for you to buy. They can be used in the different games launched by RRS in the future. It's a Cyberpunk themed Metaverse in the making. This can only mean one thing, the value of LVL token will rise as more games get developed and more people join in. It's simple math!
What Did You Miss So Far?
If you are hearing for PsyberX for the first time then you missed there two important events already:
- LVL Token Founder's Presale: During the presale, everyone could purchase LVL. As per the amount of LVL Tokens, everyone was divided into three tiers - 1,2 & 3, and airdropped NFTs accordingly.
- Pysber Crates Sale: Psyber Crates are like card packs that contained gear and equipment which can be used within the game.
Should You Invest In PsyberX?
The game is quite early in the making but I have seen the team actively developing and communicating the latest updates with the community. That's a huge plus point for me personally. I saw their trailer and gameplay footage, both of them looked decent if not out of this world. If you are bored of playing Collectible card games on Blockchain and interested in experiences like Fortnite or PUBG, then it's for you. From an investment standpoint, I think buying a few starter kits won't hurt if you have that much money to spare. You never know if this could become the next Splinterlands. Once you get firsthand experience of the game, then you can buy more NFTs once the marketplace launches but by then, prices might change. That's the risk if you are willing to take it. Please make sure that you go through their Whitepaper and Roadmap thoroughly to understand what's happening and when. You shouldn't invest if don't like games or think it is too early because it is.

It seems to be coming together but I won't be investing in the game just yet. Setting $100 as the minimum participation price is quite steep considering the options in GameFi nowadays.

Yes. In splinterlands you need to invest thousands of dollars to move forward and start earning something substantial. Same goes with rest of the games that are popular. At some point players will have to make such investments if they want to continue progressing in the game.
As per the clarification from @psyberx, I think it's a fair price. We will have to see how it develops.

I think there was a miscommunication.
There is no cost to start playing PSYBER X.
This is just for the Founder Starter Kit, and is not required to play.
We will have a version that is not tied to crypto, and allow non P2E gamers to dip their toes in slowly.
Again. There is no barrier of entry into PSYBER X.

Thanks for the clarification @psyberx. I was wondering the same. Starter Kit generally means that it's a basic step you need to follow before playing the game. So I got confused. Will update my blog accordingly.
I think as we move forward, non P2E can play the game and they will have enough testimonials from early investors and players to know how much they can earn through the game. This will motivate them to invest $100 if they find the game interesting.

O no, that's not really the case.
The $100 payment (Hive, HBD and 250 USDT) is meant for Land Purchase.
But when you purchase the land (Alpha land), you'll get extra benefit of the Juggernaut Perk and No Remorse Perk as discussed above.
There will be other land sales in the future for commercials and the rest. These will also have their different add-ons or benefits.
Playing the game is more or less free, such that even non-crypto gamers can also enjoy the game.

I think the issue is that a "starter pack" tends to be a little misleading towards people who are reading. After all, I tend to assume that this means that it is what a beginner would need. Maybe it's just the choice of words but thanks for the clarification.

The plan seems good and the noises coming form their discord seems like things are happening. It's always a risk but some of them will pay off.
Just about doing some research and making the best guess.
This is a free to play game. There will be tournaments that you will need to pay LVL to play in, but there will also be opportunities to play the game for free. As an example, if a tournament is held for 100 LVL with 100 players who do not pay to enter, each kill will gain you 1 LVL, as a possibility. Every detail is being worked out, but it will have a free to play component as well as a pay to play component. It will be very gamer-oriented and very welcoming to new players. We want millions of people to play, not just 300K like the most famous card game on Hive right now.
I think the way you wrote it, it can be read in a misleading way, thus the clarification. You will not need to buy land to play. Land will be used to create personal worlds or realms that can be either safe zones or danger zones. Think of it like your own YouTube channel amongst 10,000 other channels. People will want to come to your land if it is fun/entertaining/exciting, etc. The most popular ones will likely be able to earn money from "taxes" on their lands. I will likely use my land as billboard to advertise whatever I want to advertise...only time will tell...

Exactly, that's the aim!
You can choose to house your Guild and recruited team members in your Land, which is your safe zone.
You can build your hospital, bar etc and make some some passive income with the lvl.
As the team said, even a non-developer will be able to build and design his or her own land in the game’s Ecosystem. The materials will be provided to make the building or construction easy.
Here, we are also looking at a metaverse, where you can live your world inside the game.

But, just like other games, you mustn't get a land before you play the game. The additional perks will give you certain immunity also.
