Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - you're going down

Now is the time of once in a lifetime opportunity. Splinterlands is already 6 years old and to celebrate this they are organizing a tournament with insane prizes.

1st Place: Runi + 5 Plots + 1,000,000 DEC
2nd Place: Runi + 4 Plots + 500,000 DEC
3rd Place: 4 Plots + 45,000 DEC
4th-10th Place: 1 Plot + 20,000 DEC
11th to 47th Place: 7,000 DEC + 2 Rebellion Packs
48th to 61st Place: 4,000 DEC + 1 Rebellion Pack
62nd to 138th Place: 1 Rebellion Pack

If I am not mistaken that is about 1000 dollars worth prize for the first 1 place...

If I could somehow at least finish among top 10 players that would be really nice. And if I could win one of the first two places that would be the best thing that happened to me in a long time. Saying that this is a lifetime opportunity is a slight exaggeration. But it would allow me to save several years that it would take me to strengthen my decks by buying more powerful cards. I could do it with enough time and investing money from real world. So winning one of top two places in this tournament could save me a lot of time and money. Needless to say that I am very excited about this chance. Naturally I already joined this tournament and I think that you should do so as well. After all joining is free. The chance to win monetary reward is obvious reason why many people would feel tempted to join the battle and participate in this tournament. But it isn't the only reason why I joined.

This is an open tournament. That means that all participating players will have ALL the cards and they will be maxed out cards. Now this really is another opportunity that doesn't come often. I have a few nice cards but none of them are maxed out. So I had to join. We will all have the same cards so only strategies and maybe luck will determine the winner. It is possible that some of my enemies will have advantage because they will be more familiar to cards and their abilities. Experience is also important in this game. I want to test myself against the best players of this game and this is the best opportunity to do so with more or less equal odds of winning. At the moment 372 players have joined.

After reading what I said so far you may think that it is strange that not everyone are joining the tournament. The one thing that some players may not like is that this tournament requires identity verification. At first I disliked this as well because it took me two days to verify my identity. But game support team were very helpful. Also after verifying identity players can not only play in open tournaments with huge prizes but also purchase credits using dollars( or I guess in my case eur). Having that option is nice even if I am not sure if I will use it. But for now I am very excited about the tournament. I hope that I will do well and somehow finish in at least top 10 or better...
