Greetings to all my fellow players around the world and to Splinterlands. How are you all doing Splinters? Hope you are all doing great.

Season 171 in Rank Battle is fast approaching its end, with just 5 days left and I am currently at Gold 2. I am not sure if I can still climb up to Gold 1. This season I've encountered mixed players some have strong deck and some have low level. I just had my last Battle and consumed all energy today that's why I decided to write a post about this last win and share my strategy.

NO PAIN NO GAIN

I would like to start the battle with taking a peak at opponents previous used element, archons and units. This way I can find out what level of deck he/she have, what are the strong damage unit he used and and the buffs or debuffs he have. This are just a quick glance just to have an idea what kind of player my opponent is. I can come up with a counter, or I can just go to my strongest line up, but this is not 100% percent guaranteed that it will work. It's just a preparation of what might be used.

Moving on to my next strategy in Battle is the RULESET. Although looking at the opponents previous Battle may give me idea how to counter, it is equally important as well to take in consideration the RULESET. Now I have two strategy for preparation, I have an idea of what might my opponent will use and I will adjust my teams line up suited for the ruleset. Sometimes its a hard adjustment we just need to do our best to play and wait for the outcome.

For this Battle, the RULESET are No Pain No Gain, Blood and Sunders and Broken Arrows. The highlight of this battle is the No Pain No Gain modifier. It is basically having the Painforge ability of all Unit in this battle.

Sometimes we can ignore this ruleset and just rely on our powerhouse line up, but for me I suggest to take advantage of Painforge, because it will give me an edge. But the big question with taking advantage of Painforge is, will my team survive if I inflict a debilitation effect to my team? Because to use the Painforge, it is exchanging health of my unit or team for 1 additional power or damage. A careful selection is necessary, like picking a unit with high health or have some healing ability. A combination of Tank Heal and Triage will be the best option.
Lets get into the battle to see how we both pick our line up.

One of my advantage in this battle is I am way ahead when it comes to level. I carefully pick all my unit with decent health, and with 4 units at max level, all of their ability already unlock. And of course the main man of this battle is no other than Calamity. The debilitation ability of this unit will damage all my team from its Electrified thus resulting to everyone gaining additional 1 power or damage.

My enemy also adjusted accordingly to the reuleset by placing Cavewise Wayfinder with his reckless ability and Viciouc Giraffe. But not everyone will benefit from Painforge unlike my team all of them will be taking Painforge benefits. Aside from that, his team might not be able to survive if it uses debilitation because they have low health.

This is round 2, Torch Vizier was already dead at the end of round 1. I also have the ambush ability here that is why my team had an early advantage.
Coming in at round 3, I lost my tank Solace Ashinach, but he serves his purpose already. Providing enough time to absorb damage. While my enemy lost again another unit which is Ashen Cindergrim. Its clear now that I will win this battle and my enemy cannot turn this around anymore.
The battle concludes, he only lasted 3 rounds and as you can see the damage output of my remaining 4 units is already amplified by Painforge.

It was a satisfying win🙂, with just under 3 minutes of strategy I was able to come up with a line up that beats the enemy in a whim. That is why Splinterlands is still the most exciting fast pace strategy game.

That would be all for now, thanks for reading, I will see you in next challenge. If you came across with this post and you are not yet playing Splinterlands you can use my LINK and reach out to me so I can guide you to the best web3 gaming, Splinterlands😎.
