Weekly Splinterlands Challenge - Ugly Fish aka Deeplurker

Hello to all my fellow splinterpeeps and a big thank you for stopping by to my - hopefully - weekly splinterlands challenge! Once again it's time for said challenge, hosted by the awesome team behind @splinterlands. No matter if you are an artist, social media influencer or just enjoy playing the game, they host all kinds of challenges here on hive, which give you a chance to get a nice curation from the community. Make sure to check them out and start earning on the hive blockchain! In this weekly challenge we have to make use of another new card from the chaos legion series, which has become rather popular. The Deeplurker - also known as the 'Ugly Fish'.
Until the arrival of the Chaos Legion, the water splinter was dominated by magic. Alric was buffing the wizards while Bortus tried his best to stop him. These days you see the magic cheese led by Obsidian with even greater success, while the water based magic cheese has almost completely vanished from the lower leagues. Instead it's Keyla's reign now and the meta shifted towards a melee based lineup.
Stats
Let's have a look at the card.
Deeplurker is a rather mana efficient monster which offers 3 damage and 6 HP at a cost of 6 mana. On top of that it also comes with the opportunity ability. This combination makes him one of the strongest opportunity cards in the game and a good counter to the annoying backline healers. As a deep-sea dweller his eyesight is not particularly spectacular though and you might see him miss some of his pray due to his low speed.
Ruleset
Like mentioned before, the ugly fish fits the water meta perfectly and gets played in nearly every water match.
Not every week we are lucky enough to have the perfect quest for the challenge though. With 3 accounts I did not manage to find a game that truely displays it's strenght and therefore I decided to show a less sovereign performance of the ugly fish:
The ruleset was pretty much not a ruleset at all, as literally every single combo was playable.
As I don't have too many good cards on this account, I came up with following linup:
Lineup

Most water matches I decide to go for the new Kelya summoner, especially when playing on my smurf accounts. Lir and Bortus are very situational and Vera is a card that I actually do not play at all. Prices for Alric are super high right now, so I might not get my hands on one of those anytime soon.

Picking the tank for water matches is not an easy task, as the roster to pick from is pretty solid and versatile. In this case I went for Torhilo with the magic shield and was dead on countering the magic cheese Obsidian this way. Even if the opponent does not play magic, the 12 hitpoints will keep it alive for quite a while.

With plenty of mana to spend I went for a secondary tank. With the reach ability it can also attack from second position, so it's attacks are not wasted.
A card I usually don't play a lot, but quite solid if you want to go full AD.

Oshannus became one of the most overpriced cards back when the new rewards were released and has now crashed by 90%. Still a really good card and worth picking up before the card printer runs out of ink. Especially at level 2 when he gets phase and starts dodging those magic attacks he becomes super strong.

In high mana and equalizer matches I like the Sand Worm for it's crazy 5 damage. It's low speed makes it rather risky, but with Kelya's buff it becomes more reliable.
It fullfills pretty much the same role of getting rid off high value backline targets as the Deeplurker. At higher leagues you might see healers in the backline that counter it's efforts, but usually not until the higher silver ranks.

Here is the star of todays match. And again it didn't really shine.
Usually it's one of the strongest cards in the water lineup, but this time the blind fish decided to miss most of his attacks.
Like mentioned before the stats on this cards are too good to miss out on. Ironically the water splinter is also the biggest counter to the Lurker with all the armor buffs you can get, but against squishy high value targets like the Goblin Psychic or Serpentine Spy it works really well.

I have not yet decided if I like this card or not. But it is golden. Plus 10% ftw, baby!
The 7 mana are a little too much for how squishy it is, but I just hope the decent speed paired with the flying ability is enough to dodge a couple of attacks before it goes down.

The misses on the Unicorn Mustang almost lost the game, but luckily the rest of the team performed well. Key is to take out the healer as fast as possible, or else your team will grind their teeth on the tank and slowly die.
This weeks spotlight was not particularly entertaining, but soon the next splinterlands challenge will come and hopefully we will be more lucky with what they pick.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my posts, anyways!
