WWE Vault Posts Full Event For Terry Funk's Wrestle Fest Featuring ECW, FMW And WWF's Bret Hart
Earlier this week, WWE Vault's YouTube channel posted the September 11, 1997 "Terry Funk's Wrestle Fest". This event took place in Amarillo and was supposed to be the retirement match for Terry Funk. He faced then-WWF Champion Bret "The Hitman" Hart in the main event.
The event was promoted by ECW and several ECW & FMW (from Japan) stars wrestled on the card this particular night. This main event also was featured in the documentary "Beyond The Mat" where Terry Funk is seen talking days before the event with longtime friend Dennis Stamp, who ultimately became the referee for the Funk-Hart main event.
Funk also was presented that night with a lifetime ECW world heavyweight championship award prior to the start of the match.
This also is the match which some say makes Bret Hart, while still the WWF champion, an "ECW alum" - despite it being a show only promoted by ECW and the matches called by ECW announcer Joey Styles. Leave your thoughts as to whether you believe that Bret Hart should be considered an official ECW alumnus. He never appeared on any other show run by ECW.
