Wrestling Games Or Halls Of Memories In The Metaverse And Token-Gating

In addition to the last post on pro wrestling promotions using web3 decentralized social media platforms, I was wondering about professional wrestling mini-games and/or Halls of Fame in the metaverse. One of the largest metaverse platforms, Spatial, doesn't have anything particularly dedicated to wrestling; but it has the DTM Boxing Ring metaverse.

Right now there are no events scheduled in this metaverse, at least which are easily found, such as:

  • Boxing match watch-a-long sessions where you can meet other boxing fans
  • Famous retired boxers whom you can meet like a pro wrestling fan convention has in the physical world
  • You can't "box" in this metaverse, although you can jump into the ring as seen in the screenshot

These metaverse environments do allow for images, audio, and video. This could help increase engagement with social media channels (including new ways to promote the web3/decentralized platforms), promote sponsors with logos and links to their landing pages, promote recent matches & interviews with the addition of video clips, etc.

Evidently, some metaverse platforms - like Spatial - also offer token-gating access. This means that only owners of a particular NFT & the associated Smart Contract ID can access the private, exclusive environments. These NFT's can be web3 domain names tied to boxing or wrestling or other combat sports, a particular NFT collection available on OpenSea or Rarible, NFTs tied to virtual real estate such as a NFT placed on the map tied to the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, or any other NFT platform.

This would allow for a benefit exclusive to the NFT holders, so long as there was fresh content which matched the emotions of fans and couldn't be replicated easily anywhere else. I am open to your ideas as to what else could be done in such a private NFT holders-only environment. These could include:

  • Metaverse fan conventions
  • Exclusive interviews with wrestlers in a wrestling environment, done even if the wrestler is a passenger and on the road to the next town for a show
  • A promotion allowing fans to be in the ring and take a photo of the fan's customized avatar in order to increase loyalty to the promotion
  • Exclusive watch-along events for NFT holders only in an "arena" environment with never-before-seen content
  • Fans get to have an "in-ring promo" contest, with the winner voted on by other fans using a blockchain voting/survey platform

The above are just some starting ideas, so please let me know your thoughts to help pro wrestling adopt new technologies in 2026 and beyond. Thank you.

Mixing wrestling mini games with token gated access could make the fan experience way more fun and interactive. I’m excited to see how this evolves in the metaverse.

Thanks! I know that metaverse wrestling games would be low-quality compared to existing traditional wrestling video games, so the web3 elements would have to be more emotionally-rewarding. This could be that a lucky fan gets to challenge an actual retired wrestler or semi-retired (e.g. RVD) and do a "body slam" challenge in the ring at the ECW Arena. If the fan wins the scaled-down "match" then he/she gets some sort of web3 reward: a native token, a digital wearable t-shirt for his/her avatar, a POAP NFT for attending the event, an exclusive NFT from the wrestler or promotion, etc.

This is just one idea I have, so I am open to all of your thoughts based on successful web3 methods being employed in different sports, entertainment, and other industries where there is a community of high-emotion involved.
