The Time Freddie Kreuger Showed Up In ECW

In 1993, Eastern Championship Wrestling (ECW) had a unique appearance of a character. Doug Gilbert, the brother of Eddie Gilbert who also was in ECW at the time, wrestled several matches as The Dark Patriot. However, Doug also wrestled in his Freddie Kreuger gimmick which he was using in the W*ING promotion in Japan at the time.

This was part of the inter-promotional talent exchange between W*ING and ECW (see more here: https://peakd.com/hive-191258/@ecwwebsite/ecw-and-the-wing-promotion-swbbk4)

Later that night, Doug (as The Dark Patriot) and Eddie Gilbert won the vacant ECW tag team championships defeating The Sandman and Salvatore Bellomo. This was on August 8, 1993 at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia (then still called Viking Hall).

The one match for Freddie Kreuger saw team team with Headhunter A & Headhunter B (the Headhunters) against Bellomo and the Super Destroyers in a six-man tag match. The match ended in a DQ.
